DCL, how do you get the wi-fi dongle to appear as an AP? I have mine installed and set up on a bridge with my LAN connection but my PSP still can't see anything and the dongle shows up as disconnected in Network Connections.

did you give the dongle a static ip with a blank default DNS?
have you filled in that ip adres as the default router and prim. in your psp?
if your not into networksthere must be a clear tutorial somewhere on the net, people do this all the time with pda's and laptops
if I find the time, I will make a step by step tut for this...
I found something similair here
link
not very clear this is also about playing online with xlink and use internet...
it begins that it's for 1.0 psp's only but this is NOT true.
I tried it the first time last year september on a 2.0 (before the downgrade)
now I own a 1.5/2.0 and a 2.6 both work...
note that for playing xlink you need a dongle that supports 'promiscuous mode'
examples are d-link DWL-120 or DWL-122 expansys does ship them quit cheap.

Get the WiFi Max. I've NEVER had a problem with it, and it's soooo easy to setup and maintain. ^^

the range is 100m, it supports laptops, is faster than most wifi routers, supports up to 5 psp's, and is under 60 bucks. I've got to have one. It sounds like heavan. Plus, it is a h@ll of alot easier to set up than an actual router.edited: Jun 15 2006

about 60% of the people that get wifi max have problems with it.. (even i do)
This looks way better than wifi max, according to stopsign2121:
Wifi Usb key - 100m, 5 psp's, price, easy to use..
Wifi max - 10m , 4 psp's (even though i cant connect at the same time my brother does), 40$, alot of problems to deal with..

I haven't had any problems with my WifiMAX!!!!! And Circuit City just had it for half price($20)! It was a local deal, I guess.

from the looks of this its definelly seems better than the wifi max the only problem is it has like 25 steps to set it up on a comp. kinda deamanding. wifi max only take about 5 steps and ur ready to go. but this is probably better and u can take it with u and set it on any comp. good luck with the setup though
