The Hornet is a portable headphone amplifier. It can vastly improve the sound of headphones that would be hard for portable devices like the PSP to drive properly.
Extremely tiny size.
Runs on a single 9 volt battery.
Built in charger for rechargeable batteries.
Includes universal (90 to 240 volt) regulated adapter.
Adjustable gain switch.
Power switch doubles as power light and clipping indicator.
Metal thumb screws to access the battery compartment.
I was going to build myself a CMOY, but this one has better sound. It is very high end, but I think there are better sounding ones out there. But none of those are nearly as small. The Hornet is thicker than a CMOY but it's smaller overall (depending on what you build it in). It's also a bit heavier than other amps due to it's extruded aluminum case instead of plastic or tin.
I found the PSP's internal amp to be surprisingly powerful though so you don't really need any amp unless you are using high end headphones like these. .
I own one and it's worth every penny.
I use it with my Senn 650's which were $400 alone.
I work in the music biz, and love it.
True audiophile quality on the road!

I'm using the Senn 600 without a problem.
Very nice set-up indeed "
Yeah. Like I said, the PSP's amp is surprisingly powerful. But, to drive the full size Senn cans with any kind of real fidelity, a headphone amp helps a LOT. Build yourself a CMOY or pick one up on Ebay. You'll see what I mean. Then maybe down the road you'll look at a higher end portable headphone amp.

The DIY models I've used are okay, but they don't have the features or sound quality of a good professionally built model. I have yet to see a DIY amp with a built in battery charger.
Yes. It may "drive it" but it's way shy of the quality using a good amp.
And those $12 kits are a joke, in comparison.
Quality folks.
If you have tin ears, fine, but don't make stupid statements.
For the price ($350 on the maker's site!)... it better wash my sheets, cook dinner, keep me warm at night AND make me consider leaving the iPod at home on the next trip. But considering it's another thing to drag around, I'll keep the iPod shuffle instead and save my bucks for more games/memory.
