I'm a bit late to the party to comment on this thing, but I really want a few. If Sony ever comes out with firmware that supports the Apple Lossless format for music files, large memory sticks would really come in handy. Even now my average PSP capable file is about 7 or 8 megs each. The lossless ones are 25 Megs or so. A few 4GB sticks would be great.
As for larger sticks, I can't think of a reason why, with a firmware update, the PSP couldn't support multiple partitions. I also can't see a need for support for files larger than 4GB. The only files larger than that I have ever had on my home computers are DVD images. They wouldn't be very useful on the PSP. :-)
The big problem I see with big changes in the memory stick format is support for other devices than the PSP. My digital cameras and my Sony television all use the same type of memory stick. That comes in really handy. I'm sure Sony will come up with something cool in the future, but we'll have to wait for PSP 2 or something to use it. I won't be replacing my TV or camera anytime soon just to take advantage of more storage. A 4GB stick will hold about 1100 seven-megapixel pictures. My battery is only good for 440 pictures. We are going to need a whole new generation of technology to use very massive sticks. Stuff like 20 megapixel cameras and PSPs that can play high-definition movies and extremely high bit-rate music.
Hmmm. . I rather like the sound of that. .

It's entirely doable to releabe a firmware that upgrades the version of FAT the PSP can read. Currently, the PSP is limited to FAT16 which maxes at 2GB. But with the way Memory Stick Duo's store and address data, it doubles that limit. (Hence the "Duo" moniker" Now if Sony enabled the PSP to read FAT32 volumes, the PSP would be able to support a 64GB memory stick.

lol for 200$ why not just buy a somekinda of ipod that has usb on it and transfer wat ever u want to watch to your psp. The only reason why u would need 4gb is it u wanted keep bootleg(illegal games) files on ur psp. Sony is just asking for trouble but you do watcha got to do to keep up in the market.edited: Jul 21 2006

And it's already down to the $100 mark (after rebates). Shop around! Makes a huge difference.
