We talked about the partitian idea back when the 2GB cards came out... Some PSP's were modified to allow it to connect to other media, like SD and such. In those tests, the max the PSP could use was 4GB. Due to FAT or whatever, it wont work.
So we said "remember those PS2 memory cards with the dial so you could switch between them and triple the storage?" Well we thought the same thing could be applicable to the PSP. Such as pixelator mentioned again.
The only issue I could see (if you dont want added bulk) is how do you switch between particians on a memory stick pro duo? It's small and internally held in the PSP.
Not that many files *are* 4GB... I don't think I've ever even downloaded a media file that big. So a filesize limit of that sort would (assuming such a double-capacity memstick happens) wouldn't be a big deal for me, anyway.
As for size, it's up to Sony if they can manage to produce a card with two storage 'boards' in them without making them much (if any) thicker. Maybe they can't do it?
The 4gig files I've seen are mail DB and some are bigger than that. If we move them around on external HD they get damaged, media is only going to get bigger as people always want more space for content. I like that idea though that yoyo mentioned, about the "memory cards" what ever happened to those? Sony may find a way but they will release a newer PSP model by then, with all these issues addressed.
very nice 4GB on my PSP, I wouldn't have to delete mp3s and movies so often... and get to carry more PC related programs with me... pitty I'm broke (and for a long time to come apparantly).
I just baught 1 gig form costco for 44.99, and i just upgraded from 256 to that , ive had my psp since it came out, and i still cant fill that card, how am i gonna fill th e 4gig?
