I sat in on a screening of this a few months ago. Opinions afterwards were mixed.
Some were just happy to see the Avengers animated and in action. Others, like myself, were unhappy with some of the animation and much of the story. Story-wise, I thought it was a lukewarm outing: it wasn't the Avengers I grew up with, but it wasn't really the Ultimates, either. It's a watered-down version of the Ultimates, lacking much of the personality and humor of that series (which, admittedly, I am not a very big fan of).
I think ign.com's review is pretty spot-on about this one. If you love the Avengers and love most comic adaptations, then you'll probably enjoy this in some way. But don't expect much out of this one, especially if you were expected a direct adaptation of the Ultimates.
