Also known as dynasty warriors. It plays well, actually just like like the versions on the ps2. Though this type of game on handheld does have it's flaws. It's a great way to show off the power of the psp by laying as many characters on the screen as it can. There are times of extreme slowdown when too much is going on. The viewpoint is 3rd person, but you can't see much of the horizon and enemies simply pop into screen. It's hard to see behind you giving the enemies an advantage. The game plays in segement like chess. It's also not quite free roaming as the ps2 version. It's done in segments of the map instead (no load times in between). When you win a segment you can choose where to roam next. Heavy on Japanese text as well.

I personally found the menus a bit hindersome to navigate. I think I spent like 5 minutes just trying to figure out how to start the game. Mind you I haven't played Dynasty Warriors in a few years so it could be that I am not familiar with the menus.
If you like Dynasty Warriors I think you will find it well worth it. If you have never played Dynasty Warriors before and want to try it out with the PSP then don't...buy it on the PS2 first. $50+ is quite a bit of money when you could pick up an older version of Dynasty Warriors for the PS2 for much less.

great gameplay, however the psp started to slow down the game speed in one of the later levels due to the number of enemies on screen and in my immediate area. great hack and slash title, if you can put up with the japanese text.

Dynasty Warriors is amazing, but my only concern is the sectionized game play, I hope it doesnt flaw the game play. I am so excited for DW5 it is going to have new super moves and my DW4 character has been maxed out for months!

I'd highly recommend this if you like hack and slash games. I popped this in at the store to test it out and I ended up playing for half an hour. The graphics are probably the best so far, maybe Ridge Racers is better but I haven't seen it first hand yet.

I played it and I love the Dynasty Warriors series on the PS2 but this isn't the same I'd like to be able to run through battles and skip the ones I don't think are important but in this you can only fight on one field at a time and it takes forever. It makes me feel restricted.
