I think $5 is reasonable for a movie that can only be viewed on the PSP. If/When Sony releases a UMD player that can be attached to TVs I would purchase more UMD movies, but presently it does not make sense to pay $15 for a movie that can only be played on my PSP when I can spend $19.99 on a DVD.
Here are my 2 'pesos': Even if I had a NA Region 1 PSP I don't think I'd pay that much for a DVD. It just doesn't make sense for my lifestyle. When I want to see a movie I hit the theaters.. if I can't catch it or if it just doesn't seem worth paying the extra bucks I wait and get it via NetFlicks.
Which brings me to that reality.. Why would I pay for movies if I already have an account to get unlimited movies and I don't really repeat movies that often - unless they are Animes.
As for them selling UMD's so we can record on it - I really don't see why not! They used to (probably still do) sell those business card size and shape CD's remember? pretty much the same or if not the exact same size as the DVD discs that SONY uses on their DV Cameras.
Yeah their would be controversy but not specifically for PSP.. That reality will exist with or without UMD's cause it's not like we can't put a full Movie in a Flash Mem Cards.
I'm not going to buy many UMD's for now, seeing as they are psp-exclusive. It just seems like a waste of money to buy a movie for that much that can only be viewed on the PSP.
