In spite of having to wait even longer than North Americans for their PSP, South Korean users will get a web browser included with their PSP when it launches there on May 2. Could this also mean that the rest of the world will get the same web browser in a firmware update on May 2?
Cnews said: "Users will be able to surf the Internet from wireless access points and view unique content geared toward the device, said KT spokeswoman Nam Yoon-soo."
Some users have already figured out a way to get the PSP to browse webpages.
DAMNIT! I very kindly asked Sony to have the browser as a firmware feature, but NOOOOOOOOO, they had to make it UMD so my battery life sucks while i look at wireless porn. More hotspots arent free, only some.
well the PSP will be approx. $320 USD in south korea, so I dont know if it's a good thing. First it's late then they jack up the price for some extra features which the rest of the world will get for free anyways plus the PSP Os wont even be in korean. Policy here sucks, south korea is notorious for ripping off their own people. I'll be sure to order mine straight from Japan.
I could be wrong, but I believe that the browser will absolutely come as a firmware update because the update has been seen once before; if any of you remember the leaked incomplete firmware update a month or two back. I believe that the Network Utility UMD they speak of is purely for the internet service provider, and not for the browser itself. Sony has already stated that if there was going to be a browser, that it would be completely free of charge. If, for some reason, they do charge for it; I'm perfectly content using Wipeout as my browser instead =P
