The story starts out with Chris and Jurio, best friends from the town of Ragpick who are embarking on a pilgrimage to be adults. As tradition states by the town rules, two children that reach a certain age partner together to goes out into the world and visits the five holy shrines of the land before they're recognized as an adult by their village. Unfortunately for the two of them, the pilgrimage has already been overshadowed by bad luck: First, Chris had to postpone her plans for the pilgrimage because of an illness. Next, two thieves stole and almost escaped with the sacred dagger that identified the pair of kids as pilgrims to anyone they meet. Finally, their arrival at the first shrine provided the duo with a glimpse of a bleak future that seemed tied to their fate. As the two teens continue their journey, they'll discover what role they play in an ancient prophecy and just how they'll be able to save the world.
The two characters appear to split along the standard role-playing conventions: As the son of a hunter, Jurio happens to be the fighter of the pair. He can give and take more damage than Chris, and wields bladed weaponry. Chris, on the other hand, happens to be a magician who wields a powerful cane. She appears to be much more support focused, backing Jurio up from a distance. However, while some of the class stereotypes may seem standard, the battle system is not. Instead of having random encounters, players will be able to see where their enemies are, which will allow you to run away from monsters that might crush you (or that you don't feel like fighting). However, there happens to be a flip side, in that the monsters will wisely gauge how strong you are, and display one of three behaviors towards you depending on how close you are: they'll run away, be passive and stand still or charge towards you.
Battles are turn based and depend on the specific radius of movement that a character or monster has available to them. At the start of your turn, you can attack anyone that falls within your character's radius, launch a spell against them, or use a skill on them. Skills are usually effect based, and can be used to entice a group of monsters to attack Jurio or fall victim to Chris' paralysis attack. Successful attacks provide you with a boost to a meter at the bottom of your character's icon. By filling up the meter, you have the option to trigger a finishing move, a powerful attack that will easily eliminate most enemies.

I wasn't aware the first one did well enough to warrant a sequel.

While the first game sort of played and definitely looked very cute, it's not very "touching" or makes you want more, but good enough if you haven’t got anything else to play and in the wait for a better RPG.
Not worth paying $40 for, but maybe $25.
I hope the sequel gets better.

I actually have the first one and I rather liked it. I found that it had a nice story line.
