The Custom Tracks feature in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is now available. All you need to do is download this program and rip the CD's you want to play in game. Make sure to read the PDF for instructions.

You CANNOT simply burn your MP3s to a data CD and load them
as far as I have read in the previous comments, not one person has said "burn a data CD" .... either way.. in the case you DO NOT WANT to use CD-Rs just load the custom soundtracks.. use daemon tools and mount a fake DVD drive, write an image of the audio CD you want to burn and load the image into daemon tools..
no CD-R's wasted, and it works better than a CD too. (1st hand experience)

it seems kind of rushed now that i look at it in more detail. no direct mp3->game conversion, i'm 99% sure they're just encoded into ogg files with the extension changed to .gta, and when you look at "saved data" under game on your mem stick, for the ULUS04001CUSTOMTRACKS folder (the folder where the music is stored) it just says corrupted data. i just know there is going to be some idiot kid out there who will be like wtf is this and then delete it and then ask wtf happened to my custom tracks [it'll probably happen to me once or twice ]?

Look for a program call Exact Audio Copy PSP Edition (you can get it free from Codemasters). It is the exact same program - Rockstar apparently got the author to modify the program so that it wouldn't convert from MP3s for their version. Convert your MP3s from the File menu in EAC, rename them from .toc to .gta files, and copy them to the X:PSPSAVESULUS04001CUSTOMTRACKS folder. No CDs required at all.

so basically R* just didn't want to have to deal with copyright issues....but they didn't think very hard on it. The best they could come up with was to inconvenience us so that we have to burn (disc or image) then rip the tracks.
