Sony is now officially confirming only a single pack on March 24 and that there will be stock of approximately one million units, which should allay any concerns of shortages.
Single Pack
Some were displeased to hear that the North American launch of the PSP might only be in a Value Pack format. It is now known for certain that North Americans will not get an option of a console only PSP. The $249.99 Value Pack will contain a 32MB Memory Stick PRO Duo, headphones with remote control, battery pack, AC adaptor, soft case, wrist strap, cleaning cloth, a UMD with game / movie and music videos and the first one million value packs will contain the movie Spider-Man 2 on UMD.
One million
With online stores going in and out of pre-order mode, many were worried that all stocks were already accounted for. Even after one month of sales, Japan managed to "only" sell 500k PSP units. To prepare for a potential onslaughts and to the dissapointment of many eBay sellers who were hoping to take advantage of the shortage, Sony has announced that there will be one million PSP units available for sale.
While it is great news to hear that there probably won't be any shortages, it is dissapointing to hear confirmation of no option aside from a value pack. Not only have users found fault with the Soft Case and Headphones, but some will be wanting far greater memory sticks. Also, perhaps Sony should have included a screen protector.

I'm a little confused, this line says they "confirmed not only a single pack" but later on discounts this by saying they will not be releasing a single pack, is this just a typo or something?
I dunno - anymore whinging about the headphones, softcase and value pack and I think I'll have to simply turn off. Grow up kiddies - the value pack is good value - If you are going to play games.. a 32MB card is a damn good way to save games off seperately, and then also, noone can _whinge_ about not being able to save a game (like everyone did with PS2). The case provides _good_ protection from droppage, dust and moisture, and the headphones.. well I think they are pretty damn nice.. if you dont like the colour.. get a life.. its just a colour.. esp for the small amount of extra money you pay. I think these million units will disappear in the first week anyway - look at the number of titles available on release - 26!!! And most of them top name games.. Im hanging for an english version of DW.. and GT4 Mobile..
im probably gonna get a hard case, screen plastic cover sheet, ill use my own headphones, and deffinately... DEFFINATLEY NOT THE SOLAR CHARGER, you might as well burn your $300 PSP and accessories while trying to charger, like id use it in the sun anyway, kinda desperate way to try and get money if u ask me, but try the hard case and your own headfones they work a lot better
hehehe so many BS artists here - Sony will be shipping approx 150,000 _a_week_ (after launch) with about 50,000 going locally(Japan).. rest going to US.. the prob will be when they release Europe.. there may well be some large shortages Id imagine. How that 100,000 a week is split up across the USA.. well thats an entirely diff matter - my guess is the larger stores will get more, simply due to their bulk buying caps..
