Starting September 1, Sony Japan is giving away a UMD that includes the 2.0 update. This UMD will also include 27 60-second clips of PSP games and 5 120-second clips of UMD videos.

Well... I was at Bic Camera today, pre-ordering my white PSP, and the sale's loser didn't offer me any UMD!

Original value packs had a sampler disc, not as good as this one but it had one. Don't know if current US packs carry it. Europe doesn't get the Spiderman 2 UMD, that probably pisses some of them off. I'd rather have had the Spiderman movie than a sample disc.

If we register our PSP, we do get the UMD... but it still blows that we don't get it out of the box. The sample disc is a bit rubbish really, although there is the firmware update on it.

It's cookie time for all the kids in the US that know how to work the internet. YEAH!

Apparently because you are so "technically inclined", you haven't noticed that newer games have the firmware updates on them as well in the US. Plus on a free UMD, you can view those previews on a disc that doesn't take up space on your memory card for much better things such as your music.

Why would you want movie previews on your PSP anyway? Unless it is a full movie are you really gonna take it with you?
