IGN said: "The Art Direction role at EA is constantly evolving and the big challenge is to keep up with all of the amazing advances in technology. The games industry in general is getting visually closer to filmic quality and this has enabled teams to really push the environments, effects and lighting to new levels. The PSP is no exception to this and the hardware matched with the amazing screen quality has really helped raise the visual bar on Legends to a level that a few years ago we could of only dreamed of having on a handheld.

With any game it is essential to set a clear visual brief during pre production and then make sure that this is driven throughout the whole development cycle. The aim for Burnout has always been to achieve PS2 quality visuals on a PSP………….and I believe we've achieved that with Legends.

Taking the best of Burnout 1, 2 and 3 has thrown up it's own challenges not least of which has been not only trying to hold the feeling of the original tracks but also give a consistency across the game. The visuals on the originals have changed with each iteration and it's taken a lot of balancing to get this right. We achieved this by using the B3 lighting style and adding the necessary visual indicators to help make a game the speed of B3 readable on a small screen, (I'll hopefully stop looking at sun flares and car headlights while driving home at some point later this year).

The modelers and technical artists came up with a great solution to creating sharp shadows and this, added to some detailed vertex painting, has really helped give the game the really high contrast sunny look that helped make B3 such a visually strong product.

The team were not only constantly pushing to hit the visual bar but also constantly questioned what they were doing in order to push this even further. They did an amazing job through many long hours and their enthusiasm never waned. It's a pleasure to work with a team of people who are that motivated. I should also mention the team at Criterion who constantly helped drive quality levels throughout the game with constructive feedback. With that level of passion it's not surprising that the whole Burnout franchise is so strong. "

agreed Shane, it was shockingly impressive AND fun when i first saw it on PS2, and this seems like it could genuinely be a better version! I feel confident in good gameplay, and cross my fingers that load times are going to be reasonable

These guys are the best at visuals. I can't wait! I heard that infastructure was cancelled though. I hope that isn't true.
