IGN said: "SCE has stated that using unauthorized software on PSP would technically void the warranty (and international versions of the PSP updater would fall into that category), but reps for SCEA mentioned to IGN that service reps would now be able to field customer calls on the PSP 2.00 in general since the software is out in America. When we contacted SCEA's customer service representatives regarding warranty issues, reps stated that the technicality of the warranty non-compliance should not be a problem, and that SCE is currently honoring the warranty on any version of PSP v2.00 now that testing has been completed and the official North American release is out."
