lets talk about MSN on PSP :D

Anyone tried modifiying the firmware file before updating so that it said something like version 1.9 instead of 2.0? That way when the US update is released, the PSP will think it's a legit version upgrade and you won't have a problem. You can open up the eboot.pbp file in wordpad and clearly see where it says ver. 2.00.

"but aren't the US update and the JAP update the same? i mean, all you have to do to change your psp to japanese is to change the lanquage settings, right? "
no. PSPs are region coded. Japanese UMD movies will not run on a US psp and vice-versa. US and Japanese PSPs are DIFFERENT in a demonstrable sort of way. It's not just a language setting.

my wont work after the psp symbol it says it cannot play the game can someone help me with this

Mine says the game could not be started (80020148)

I want to know if JAP 1.52 is any different than US 1.52... Since they are both out, someone compaire the files and see what is really different. If they really are the same, then the 2.0 releases will be. On the other note, the US and JAP 1.52 could be different due to some of the regional stuff, and the 2.0 is bringing them more to a unified firmware version.

Here is the first paragraph of the User Agreement when you install the ver 2.0 update -
PSP System Software contains encryption technology that is subject to certain restrictions under U.S. Export Administration Regulations, and may not be exported or re-exported to US embargoed destinations. In addition PSP System Software may not be exported or re-exported to persons or entities prohibited by the U.S. Export Administration Regulations.
Now to me, this is specific enough to the U.S. to convice me that this is a universal update that will be coming to the U.S. eventually. This is literally the 1st paragraph when you run the 2.0 update. Hope this helps settle some of the worries out there.

usermanual: I was just about to bring that up.
My guess is the only reason why it's not released in the US yet is that the PSP web page stuff isn't set up for us yet. If you go into the browser, in the Favorites there is one called "PSP" which brings you to a page with links for the US, Europe, Japan, and South Korea. US and Europe are greyed out and not selectable but the other two are.
It seems like the firmware is multi-reigon. I'm watching a US movie UMD on 2.0 now... The reigon code is in the hardware.

Has anyone tried playing avi files? on their upgraded systems yet?
+
once i create the folder and rop in the eboot file when i choose it from the game men u do i have to have the battery charged and the ac adapter in
+
do i have to have the ac and baterry charged, is that why it says it cant play the game
+
i would bet that it's ok to update your US psp with the Japanese Firmware.
why? because, in software it takes one line of code to check if the PSP is Japanese. If it's not japanese then they can fail the upgrade. since sony did not prevent the upgrade then i would say 99% sure that it's ok to update it.
ps i write software for a living so these type of questions are the first things i ask myself, "what if someone not in japan tries to upgrade their firmware? should we let them?"

I am getting an error when trying to set up a connection point it says ("Internal error has occurred (80082728)"
has anyone seen this?? at least I have a replacement plan on it at best buy if I just fried it.. Everything else works mint though. I just reset the default setting and everything is ok. I ll leave this up for any one else this happens too.edited: Jul 27 2005

FahQ2 usually when I see this error it is because there is an issue with connecting to the network. Not neccessarily something wrong with the console.
