Many sources broke the news today the Sony PSP's long awaited North American launch would finally arrive officially on March 24.
It was long suspected that the popular PSP which only came out in Japan in December, would be available in North America by the end of March. The final price for the unit will be $249, nearly $100 more than Nintendo's DS. Unlike the Japanese PSP, the North American version will come packed with a Spider-Man 2 movie on UMD.
Launch Games
There will be an amazing assortment of 24 games to choose from on launch day. Many may be slightly unhappy to hear that PSP games will be sold *from* $39.99 SRP, meaning that most games will probably be closer to $49.99 or maybe higher.

We got the date it will come out and the price and found out and that we will get the spiderman 2 umd but the games are really expensive. Ps2 games are 50 dollars. I thought the psp games would be about 20 or 30 dollars not 50.
You're paying for nearly PS2 quality games. Just wait until you have a chance to play one, then you will entirely understand. Not even game boy advance games are $20-30, be realistic.
Man! Spiderman 2 UMD movie for free!! Arggh... Wonder if they have plans to sell it seperately. Sounds like a good deal, at least for the first 1 million units which includes the spidey 2 UMD movie.

90 PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE GAMES PRICE DONT HAVE A PSP YET OR THEY HAVENT EVEN SEEN IT OR PLAY WITH IT IN REAL LIFE, THOSE OF US WHO HAVE IT KNOW THAT $50 ITS AN OK PRICE. by the way, Cant wait on the news for the relase date on GTA and GrandTurismo for the psp.
And for the Free UMD movie of SPIDERMAN 2................. F%$&k the spiderman 2 UMD, they should be giving out "SCARFACE" UMD'S or atleast "The Chronicles Of Rid" UMD which is not as old as Spiderman 2.

haha. i hope all the Sony movies from now on are in UMD.
Back to the PSP games pricepoint, development time for the PSP will be roughly the same as the PS2 (this is PS2 quality on a handheld people), so why on earth would the pricepoint for games be all that much cheaper? a simple reality check will usually clear your mind of unbelievable thoughts ($20-$30 for PSP games???? get real), i am very happy to pay $40-$50 (in the UK thats gonna translate to around £35-£40, we'll get stung again)
From what I remember when the PS2 first came out, it was $300, and I paid it gladly. Well I had money to burn then. Now as a poor college student, It will have to wait seeing that there is only $200 left in my checking account. But if I did have the money, I would buy it the first chance I get! and hey! I happen to like Spiderman!! But yea I'd rather have Advent Children.
