One of the most anticipated PSP games is Konami's upcoming Coded Arms, a FPS putting you in charge of a hacker breaking into a virtual reality system. You've seen the screenshots and read the hands-on reviews, now let's look at the weapons arsenal and some multiplayer screens.

Coded Arms Weapons

The Bolt Gun will most likely be one of your first weapons. Its electric capabilities are particularly useful against robots and other mechanical enemies. The challenge will be in keeping the battery charged.

The Lazer Gun is effective against bugs and insects due to a high-charge plasma. Unfortunately, your running speed and running fire will be affected adversely.

Every gunslinger needs a Sniper Rifle, and Coded Arms' rifle is no slouch. With a zoom mechanism capable of 2 x magnification, you'll be able to do long distance fighting. Great for single player and multiplayer matches and particularly effective against soldiers. The bullet magazine is small with only 6 bullets, so you'll have to do sharp shooting.

The Shotgun is great for gunning down soldiers. You'll have to balance out the high destructive power with the short shot distance. At longer distances, the shot power is less effective, but the spray will hit more enemies. Useful against soldiers.

The Grenade Gun is great against those pesky soldiers. With a strong destructive power that is strong at long distances, this will be an important weapon. Explodes upon impact.

Similar to the Bolt Gun, the Lightning Gun makes use of an electric current to zap enemies. The charge has been drastically improved in this gun, allowing you to fight robots more effectively.

What is a FPS without a Plasma Launcher? This plasma grenade launching weapon is particularly useful against bugs. Upon impact, fusion surrounds the explosion, taking down even more enemies.

If you're running low on ammo for your other weapons, then this Chafe Grenade may come in handy. Upon explosion, countless metal pieces scatter and disturb radar detection in bots. The effect is temporary, but it should give you a few seconds to take out bots which can't attack accurately, or make an exit.

The Napalm Grenade is an incendiary weapon that explodes with extreme heat, burning any enemies unlucky enough to get caught in its blast radius. Throw it and watch the flames envelop your enemies.

Similar to the Bolt Gun and Lightning Gun, this Bolt Grenade has an electric charge that is useful against bots. Inside the grenade is a small ion-reactor which explodes upon impact causing instantaneous high pressure core discharge.

Useful against soldiers, this Land Mine has a small internal sensor which detects the approach of enemies at which point it explodes.

One of the more interesting weapons is the Honey Pot. It doesn't have an explosive effect. Rather, it is useful against bugs by drawing their attention away from you, allowing you to back away and blast the buggers.

Multiplayer

One of the more popular features will surely be the Multiplayer feature, allowing up to 4 people go head to head. There are many ways to customize the battles and keep things fresh. For example, you can randomize the battlefield, select the map size and level type as well.

Each player can select their weapon and ammo as well. After each round, you can check on your score and ranking.

Each match can be setup for a specific amount of time, at which point you can track your kills and overall ranking for the current match. All that's left now is to duke it out and show 'em who's boss!

It -does- matter whether it is ad-hoc or infrastructure in that infrastructure can allow online multiplayer without -requiring- use of XLink or a similar tunneling program. This is important because it means more people are likely to play it online, thus meaning more people to play with. It would then also be playable from wireless hotspots - otherwise you would have to play it at home or a friend's place that has XLink set up.

chef. you state the obvious, what i was trying to point out, which people seem to choose not to listen to, is that a person, with a psp, can play ad-hoc games through xlink to play over the internet.

Of course you have to be around a comp with xlink running, I think ti's pretty safe to say that most people wouldn't be dumb enough to think with xlink kai you could play at a hotspot with xlink running at home.

Coded Arms looks great. People need to stop worrying about if this will be like other FPSs here in the US 'cause Coded Arms is not from a US company. It's from a Japanese developer. It may be more original than anything we've already seen or it may be a copy-cat. For the most part, I don't care. Coded Arms looks like it will be a blast to play (no pun intended).

BTW, Halo isn't even close to the greatest FPS in the universe.

I agree, at the same time it is halfway decent for a console FPS, it is absolutely nowhere near "BEST" FPS. Not even close.

Is this game just ad hoc or infrastructure too?

Actually it does, digi, because not everyone has the right router to play on xlink. So I would like an infastructure mode myself.

I'm glad you like xlink, but I think it's crap that we have only xlink as a option for some of these games. They should ALL have infastructure.
