As of today, Sony has shipped some 800,000 PSP's since the launch last month in Japan. While this is but a fraction to previous portable console launch numbers, the demand is considerably high. "I must admit [sales] are not big enough yet," Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi stated today, "But demand is so strong that we already do not have enough supply,".
What's to be done for this demand you may ask? Increased production of course. Kutaragi states that the PSP production will be increased from the current 100,000 units per month to an enormous 1,000,000 by the month of April -- around the launch in North America and Europe.
This number is obviously a step closer to their future plan of 3,000,000 units a month, and signifies the demand for the PSP in Japan alone. Expect the PSP to debut in NA and Europe sometime this March.
