There's much more to each track than just trying to get from start to finish as quickly as possible, though. Each track includes a number of objectives, such as collecting stars scattered about the roadway (and in midair), and driving creatively around the environment to try to find hidden objects. So even though each objective takes anywhere from just a few seconds to a couple of minutes, the developers hope to get a lot of replay value out of people trying to find creative jumps and paths to shave fractions of a second off their best times.

This game looks like it'll be pretty fun to me. A bit of wipeout in it, and then some aspects of games like Mario Kart a bit.
Now we just need some mech shoot-em up type games.
