"Hello World", the traditional first program that is created when coding on a new system or language, is reported to be working on the PSP. You will need a v1.0 boot, which means you will need a Japanese pre network updated PSP. No confirmation as yet, but could this be the first step towards homebrew development for the PSP?
Hello World, PSP!
Runs only on PSP 1.00.
Place EBOOT.PBP at directory PSPGAMEHELLOPSP of Memory Stick, and you will find HELLO WORLD at GAME -> MEMORY STICK of XMB. To shutdown, hold up power switch several seconds, or remove battery. All scratch code, compiled by ps2dev toolchain.

It looks like Sony spotted the hole with firmware 1.00 and so fixed it with firmware 1.50, but you never know

I hear there is a way to downgrade from 1.50 to 1.00... could just be a rumor though.

def is a way since sony can re-do your firmware if u screw it up by trying to use that leaked one. A hack is def possible and will probably come. Look how long it took them to crack xbox! I think about 2 years

ok lets pretend for one minute I don't know what "hello World" is. So explain it for me and everyone else.

"Hello World" is the computer programmer's "See Spot Run". It's traditionally used when first learning a new programming language or when trying to bring up new hardware for the first time.

*cough cough* Yes, theres a way to downgrade firmware, the file is loaded to memory stick, the psp thinks that 1.5 is an upgrade and that 2.0 jap edition is 1.0.. So yeah, needless to say, I get the best of both worlds.

sadly, 1.50 is the lowest you can go (as of now) so if your wanting some 1.00 homebr00 your outta luck!
