Underground, non-licensed hacking / development may have gained a heady boost thanks to the release of ELF2PBP, a program that converts ELF files into the PSP native PBP format.
This tool takes an elf file compiled for psp and "converts" it into a PBP file. You can then copy this pbp file to a subdir in PSP/GAME" on your memcard (eg to "PSP/GAME/APP1/EBOOT.PBP"
This tool has been designed so that you could run it at the end of your makefile, you could even set your makefile to then copy the pbp to your psp after making it (assuming you first set your psp to usb mode).
Erm.. how do you make an elf for PSP without the compiler.. libs.. etc etc.. rah-de-rah... and not to mention, then sign it properly? Is there any examples of this working? And link to webby?
<edit> Just had a look through the code - theres very little in there. It just pads an elf into a PBP.. which is pointless, since that will do nothing to get it to run. Im really not sure what this tool is for? I assume the author must know that the elf's are encrypted, thus making this tool.. erg.. not a tool.. just a bit of bs..
adrifter: It just takes a binary that you must already have for psp, and puts it in information to show up on the psp when you copy it over
Grover: Some people are claiming that unencrypted elf's are capable of running on psps with v1.00 firmware. I have seen noone explicitly deny this on other forums (not many people have a leaked SDK and a japanese psp to test it though...) It is because of this that they released this tool, with the hopes that the flaw found is real and that a toolchain will be made available soon, but im very skeptical. So yes, this tool is basically useless as it is.
I have run this program.. and since I had no elf.. of R4K type.. I chucked in a JPG.. it just builts the EBOOT.PBP files from the installer.. tries to boot .. like the installer does.. etc etc.. nothing to see here... its a bit of PSP hype bs..
<edit> Heres a couple of (very crap) snappies I took doing it.. if this person was legit he would have at least supplied some pics of his code running.. I dont know _any_ coder that wouldnt show that .. if this actually worked.. hence.. its the usual bs
grover: did you notice the time in your second pic? eerie... what does that mean? 555 in phone numbers in the US are fake numbers. you probably just installed a backdoor to your psp.
HA.. thats plain bizarre.. I didnt clue onto that.. but it is 05/05/05 today in Aus.. heheh.. wow.. spooky.. with the 555 fake phone thing.. would that make today (the 5th).. some sort of wierd april fools type day :-)
