Battlefield 2 Modern Combat will be available for Sony's new handheld platform Playstation Portable (PSP). It is planned for a first quarter 2006 debut. Digital Illusions licenses the right to develop Modern Combat for PSP to Electronic Arts' studio in Great Britain.
- We are looking forward to launching the Battlefield brand on handheld platform too, and we have strong beliefs in the spread of Playstation Portables, said Patrick Söderlund, CEO at Digital Illusions.

Is this game a first person shooter? never played it, but if it has online i might get it.

Oh yeah... This is the sequel to the Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam games... Just look them up and you'll understand why this will totally kick ass if they get it to work right.

I'm getting in the beta since I know several guys that work at EA and I visit and bring them sierra nevada pale ale.... I'm also getting in on the release party, Last time it was at the USS Hornet aircraft carrier, it might be again this time too, I dunno yet.. I'm actually going up to redwood city friday to EA, I'll know more then.... It's lookin pretty good, I wont mention his name for fear someone here may know him, But I was sent a couple exclusive video's showing the ragdoll effects etc, Lookin good.... I had fun beta testing BF1942, This should be even more fun..

LUCKY! Please keep us posted!

as long as i can aim reasonably well, i can use all the BF familiar vehicles, they have fixed AI for singleplayer, and the maps are fairly large then i'm definately in. although the BF series had some rought points, it is an all around good franchise so i hope this game will be good.
+
Man the controls are gonna be horrible though, I haven't played this on any home consoles only PC, but I just like the mouse/Keyboard combo. I'm interested in how they might pull this off
+
my only concern so far is that EA's games are a little ropey on the PSP, dunno if thats cos they rushed them or what, but when you compare the EA games to the likes of Ridge Racers/Wipeout quality theres a considerablle gap, FIFA is very shoddy apparently. But anyways, the PC version of Battlefield 2 is pretty amazing
+
it is coming out after gt4 and gt4 is the first game to support the full 333mhz so that means it should run pretty well except if ea just rushess it because they care more about the xbox, xbox 2, ps2 or pc version.
+
i wonder how many people it could support online. pc with 64 people is insane, i hope they can get at least 16 players.
+
aiming is gonna be hard
but i hope the maps are great
hopefully this could be a good control idea
arrow pad = move
analog stick = aim
x button= confirm message, get in vehicle, accelate vehicle
triangle- to exit a menu
o - rotate weapons
Right shoulder key- Fire weapon
Left shoulder key - Throw nade
square button- not sure.
+
the analog stick should have been on the right side... or the PSP should have had two analog sticks.

The other versions aren't made by EA, they are made by Digital Illusions CE (DICE), but DICE don't have the time/resources to make the PSP version so they farmed it off to EA
+
but DICE is associated with EA right?
+
I belive DICE did the development for the Battlefield franchise and EA did the production and marketing. That's usually how it works in the PC Game world.
