According to independent research conducted by Enterbrain, Sony's PSP bested Nintendo in handheld console sales in both February and March of this year.
The most popular handheld in Japan is still the Nintendo DS. However, the DS sold an impressive 1.09 million units during December, a total that Sony has only just now reached after four months of sales.
by commming out for christmas alot of people who didnt realize how amazing the psp was going to be went out to get this 'awesome DS' now i know a bunch of my friends who whish they had waited cuz the DS just cant compete, maybe thats only america tho
In fact DS has been outselling PSP for last 3 weeks- - link
I wouldnt expect PSP to outsell DS in the short term in any case. You have a substantial price difference at the moment, along with being the most lacklustre sales time of the year.. even the DS while selling more.. is only selling more by a small amount and the overall sales rate is pretty low.
Wait till this time next year to compare the two - I think the numbers will be quite different by then.
