With the added support for RSS feeds, it only makes sense to take advantage of this feature. The best way, in my opinion, is to make your music library on your computer available to your PSP. This can be accomplished in a short amount of time.
This is just one way to do it. There are other servers that you use. I've tried Apache and didn't like it very much. I've also been told to use Windows IIS, but I am using Windows XP Home Edition, so that option isn't available to me.
This is a walkthrough of one way to make your music library available to your PSP, wirelessly. It is in baby steps, so it makes it a bit easier for people who have had trouble with this kind of thing.
What You'll Need
• A wireless network
• Abyss Web Server
• PHP5
• PSP RSS Feeder
Once you download the PSP RSS Feeder, extract the contents to the folder with all of your music. The feeder will allow you to select which song to listen to. For organization purposes, I used MP3Organizer to put my music into folders based on "Artist". You don't have to do this, but I find it to be much easier to navigate and find what I want.
That is all you need to do with the PSP RSS Feeder.
After you download PHP5, run the installer. Once installation has complete, move onto setting up the server. Remember the install directory that you use because you'll need it later. By default, it is C:PHP.
Download the free version of Abyss (X1). During the installation of the server, you'll be promted to make a username and password for access to the console. Use something that you can easily remember. Go to the configuration page in your web browser (localhost:9999 by default).

Click the "Configure" button next to "Default Host On Port 80" in the hosts table. Then select "General" and change the Documents Path to the folder with your music in it. Click OK.

When you are back at the Edit page, click on Index Files. Add "index.php" to the list (leaving out the quotes). Click OK.

Then click on "Scripting Parameters". Make sure that "Enable Script Execution" is checked. On the "Interpreters" table, click "Add". For the "Interpreter" field, click "Browse" and find the file "php-cgi.exe". It is in the folder that you installed PHP5 ("C:PHPphp-cgi.exe", by default). Change the "Type" drop down menu to "PHP Style". Make sure that "Use the associated extensions to automatically update the Script Paths" is checked. At the "Associated Extensions" table, add "php" to the list (again, leaving out the quotes).
On the same page is a table called "Custom Environmental Variables". Click Add and enter these values:
Name: REDIRECT_STATUS
Value: 200
Click OK to save the changes.

You'll also have to click "Restart' so the server can restart and the changes will be enabled.

To test it out, just enter "localhost" into a browser window. You should see a blue and purple page similar to the one shown below.

If you didn't put your MP3s into folders, your page will look different, but it's not a big deal.
If you are in the same network as the computer that is running the server, all you need to do to access your RSS Feed is enter your local IP address into the PSP Web Browser. If you don't know your local IP address, do this:
Go to "Start > Run > CMD > ipconfig" and hit enter. It will say IP Address and then some numbers. In my case, it's 192.168.x.xx. It depends on what kind of router/access point you are using.
If you want to access your music library from outside of the network (over the internet), then you need to either use your IP that is provided by your ISP, or use a DNS service, such as no-ip.org, to bind a domain (yourdomain.no-ip.org) to your IP address. They have several subdomains to choose from, and the service is free.

Of why the I had to so stupid and do this... This piece of S**T software renamed all my mp3 folder replacing " " with "_". No one warned about this feature.
You idiot script kiddies should be shot on sight! Have some functionality on the software instead of fiddling around with filenames. I SOOO HAAATEEEE ME FOR INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE!!!

go ahead and rename them...... They have to be named that way for the PSP to see them correctly... also any strange characters are changed....also if you knew anything about PHP you can go in and change what the spaces can be changed to... or any character for that matter... Before you go hating do some reading on what RSS Feed formats you can use with the PSP....
After all that this is NOT software it is ONLY a script so.... what hell pay attention....with it being a script you should look at it and see what it does before using it... I know it clearly states that it includes a Renamer for it to work with the PSP in the Index.php file.
If you can make it better go ahead...
I do have a Renamer software on my site for anyone to download if you want link but I dont think it is that big of a deal if my folders have an underscore in them...

DOCTOR, It's really your SH*T brain that installs and runs before reading, not the software
also there are two variables in top of index.php you can set to zero, and nothing will be renamed or despaced...
your RSS feeds won't work from psp or flash but that's YOUR choice....
Your id3 tags remain the same, you will have only profit from the filename change it will work with every program now (not only windows)
did you not learn not to use spaces in filenames when you started using computers???? noob
look in your windows systemfolder, tell me if you can find a FILE with a space or weird character in it...
get back to me when you do...
if you would have asked nicely, I would have made a script for you that renames them right back...

I'm able to stream my mp3s now!! i'm happy as hell cuz i'm a noobie at networking and hosting a web server. My only problem is the stream constantly gets buffered on the PSP. I dont mind a buffering pause every two mins but it happens every 10 to 20 seconds with a 2 second pause. Is there a way to increase the buffer size via changing a script setting? I'm running Windows XP SP2 with a Actiontec GT701 wireless Router Firmware Version QW05, Abyss X1 web server, PHP 5.1.4, and PSP RSS feeder 1.0p. THX for any feedback

in power save settings of your psp set w-lan powersave off, that might help...

also, I have my cache size on the PSP set to the highest.... I dont get any buffering....except when it first starts for about a half second...but it does that on any RSS feed.

your browsers cache has nothing to do with streaming mp3 with RSS....

I tried both of your suggestions and still no luck. i have a feeling it could be my router. anyways i will continue to mess around with my hardware and software configuration to see if i get any improvement. i am confident this particular method for streaming music is flawless with the right hardware. oh well, at lease it was free! I'm happy as a clam just being able to save the stream onto my memory stick with firmware 2.7. now i dont have to hook up my PSP to me comp every time i DL new music. that capibility alone is worth my constant buffering.

dshortey, is wma support enabled in system settings? Don't ask me why but someone I know fixed the problem by doing that...
don't know if true, but worth asking/trying... or maybe is bandwidth throthling anabled on your server?

i can get the filelist on my psp in the rss section, but if i try to play an mp3 it says

if i follow the rss link on my laptop i get...

How many mp3's are in the (feed/folder) you are trying to stream? It looks like you have an mp3 that is not able to be renamed correctly due to a character or characters that are not in the renamer... try to rename the music file that you believe is the culprit. Line 950 Column 23 is way down there....Remember the PSP can only see 100 files at a time, look at the xml output file in a browser or notepad (right click--> View source) if you can and you should see the file that is causing the problem. Come back to us with any other info you come up with.
