Ok, so you wanna watch your whole collection of "Barney and Friends" on your PSP, but you're not sure how to cram the DVD into the PSP's drive! Look no further! Here is a relatively simple way to convert any DVD for viewing on a PSP with a Mac.

1 - First things first, download DVDBackup. This will rip the video/audio from a DVD and save it to your Mac, it will also remove the protection on the DVD. You should be left with a Folder called "VIDEO_TS".

2 - Second, download HandBrake. This program will convert that VIDEO_TS folder into a single file, you should save this file with .avi video and with .mp3 audio (choose these settings in HandBrake)

3 - Once you're finished with HandBrake and you've ripped and converted your DVD into one un-protected file, you need to download the last app PSPWare. This program will convert your movie file into a PSP compatible file, and get it ready for syncing.

4 - After PSPWare is done, and you have a little green circle with a white checkmark in the circle, plug your PSP in, enable USB mode from the PSP, and hit "Sync now" in PSPWare!

There you have it. From DVD to Mac to PSP.

Did you know that Handbrake will copy the dvd and unprotect it as well? I use it as my ripper and converter.

I think I read that above - but already started the process (long one that it is) Is it quicker to just use handbrake - Im just following the instructions (like a good mum) in this web site..... so Ill try that next time. Problem is this one looks like its gonna take till next year! Any idea how long it takes on average - Im sure Ive done something wrong!

ok, so i saw that "yeah, it's completely legal. thanks to the betamax case of '76, you're allowed to time shift the movie." thing, but what about that text on the dvd that says, "Warning: for private home use only. Federal law provides severe civil and criminal penalties for the unauthorized reproduction, distrobution exhibition of copyrighted mothion pictures and video formats." doesn't that mean that its not legal? and if the betamax case of '76 covers that, where do i find proof that that's not just made up?

no offense, just wonderin

I first tried the DVD backup and it didn't work at all so I then took kichigai's advice with mac the ripper. Use the same entire process except use mac the ripper instead of dvd backup! I'm so happy I finally got movies on my PSP! I've been trying to figure this out forever!

for all of the dvds I've transfered, its taken about 5-6 hours. A good thing to do is to do it right before you go to bed so it will ready when you wake up and there wont be any waiting around!
