Ok, so you wanna watch your whole collection of "Barney and Friends" on your PSP, but you're not sure how to cram the DVD into the PSP's drive! Look no further! Here is a relatively simple way to convert any DVD for viewing on a PSP with a Mac.
1 - First things first, download DVDBackup. This will rip the video/audio from a DVD and save it to your Mac, it will also remove the protection on the DVD. You should be left with a Folder called "VIDEO_TS".
2 - Second, download HandBrake. This program will convert that VIDEO_TS folder into a single file, you should save this file with .avi video and with .mp3 audio (choose these settings in HandBrake)
3 - Once you're finished with HandBrake and you've ripped and converted your DVD into one un-protected file, you need to download the last app PSPWare. This program will convert your movie file into a PSP compatible file, and get it ready for syncing.
4 - After PSPWare is done, and you have a little green circle with a white checkmark in the circle, plug your PSP in, enable USB mode from the PSP, and hit "Sync now" in PSPWare!
sounds coool! gonna try this one tonight! But I often have problems when converting the video via PSPWare - it converts it and playable via QT but I can't seem to view it from my PSP - any ideas?
ive done this complete process on a mac, but the file always come out 11.5 mb and is just the trailer for the movie
can someone help, or give a more detailed explanation for those not as whizzy
thanx amigos
oh and that dvd back up programme, when i go to rip the dvd it comes up with
"Failed to decrypt Video Title Set 5. Skip it and continue, or stop processing?"
and this is for set 2/4/5/6
help?
I have tried this. Using dvd backup I get the video_ts folder. But thereafter handbrake only converts the opening sequence in the movie. So I am now using handbrake to rip directly from the cd. It is taking about 2.5 hrs per dvd. Is there a better way? Or how could I get DVD Backup to work with the full film?
Seems, the newest version of Handbrake has a few flaws. This entire process works up until you read the Video_TS Folder. HB will read the entire contents of the folder but will only show chapter 1 of 1 when you go to RIP. And it will only RIP chapter 1 of 1. Prior to this new version of HB the system was working great. You can RIP directly from the DVD but this puts stress on your CD/DVD drive after time. If you're not able to view the DVD on your PSP after ripping make sure you've formatted size correctly.
Something seems off here. If you're having trouble with DVDBackup, try using Mac the Ripper, which will spit out the entire VIDEO_TS filder, decrypted, of course, or OSeX which will spit out either the original disc structure (decrypted), or one huge VOB (again, decrypted). OSeX is a little less user friendly, so I suggest Mac the Ripper. Also, convertng with Handbreak seems a little excessive. You're going to lose a lot of quality in that transfer.
Im in the process of doing all the above - dvdbackup to handbrake to psp but have been doing the handbrake thing for 4 hours now and still 5 hours to go - I must be doing something wrong - but I have no idea what - and please be gentle with the replies - Im an old Mum doing this for her 10 year old and my brain is not what it was (in face never really was much to begin with)
