Are you tired of connecting your PSP to your computer and having it say "Removable Drive"? Dont you want something to make it pop? Now you can. Check out this link. Download that Zip file and extract the 3 files to the root of your memory stick (you can delete the ReadMe.txt file as everything in it is stated here). The needed files are an Autorun.inf file and a PSP.ico file.
When you connect your PSP to your PC and put it into USB mode, your computer will read the drive and the autorun file in there. The Autorun file tells the computer to mount the drive and use the PSP.ico file as it's icon (which looks just like a PSP) and tell it to label the drive "Sony PSP".
Much better than the standard Removable Drive label and icon windows gives it. Hope someone finds this useful. Note that you can edit the inf file and name the drive whatever you want. "My Crazy PSP Memory Stick" or whatever.
Note: Please don't share the link with users of other sites. This is my personal web space that I get from my ISP. Please don't share it as I dont want to run up any charges from bandwidth utilization. I'm just hosting this file and the SonicStage installer as a favor to my fellow PSP411 users.
I like the idea alot. As a matter of fact, my PSP did it automatically for some reason. The only thing is, I deleted those files from my PSP, because I really didn't know at the time what they were about.
That's part of the Windows (or MacOS) sound scheme. If you want to get rid of it, you'll have to find that sound and disable it. It's called "Device Connect" & "Device Disconnect" in the Multimedia control panel if your using WinXP.
i am still trying to figure out how to listen to music on my psp i cant seem to get mp3 or cd's to convert over to my psp is there a special program to convert music or will this psp411 do it snuffysmith12 AT NOSPAM go.com
To make the PSP work with Win98SE (or any Windows version other than WinXP), you need to download drivers that allow Windows to recognize it. Otherwise, Win98SE won't ever realize the PSP is plugged in. At all. Period. The end. And, sorry, but I don't know where you can get those drivers. I used them once, but that was last year, and I now have WinXP, so I don't have any use for the extra drivers, so I got rid of them. You can probably do a Google search for them, but if you can't find 'em, you're pretty much screwed.
