Your PSP is a big investment and one of the most easily damaged parts of it is the screen. It is understandable therefore that you want to protect it.
Many different companies have made screen protectors, thin sheets of lightly adhesive plastic that protect the screen. They vary greatly in quality, both in strength of the plastic and the amount they distort the image. I would personally advise to buy one from a recognised brand like Hori or Martin Fields.
Make sure you have plenty of time to fit the screen protector so that you are not rushed.
1: (Optional) Have a hot shower. This fills the room with steam. When the steam has subsided, there will be less dust than usual. This is the best time to apply the screen protecter.
2: Clean the screen and the area around the screen with a microfibre cloth, removing grease and dust. When it is clean, lay the microfibre cloth on the screen to try and keep dust off.
The next three steps need to be completed as quickly as possible to aviod dust:
3: Quickly peel the screen protector off the backing plastic it comes with.
4: Remove the microfibre cloth giving the screen a quick wipe
5: Apply the screen protector
6: Use a credit card to squeeze out the air bubbles under the screen protector.
If you have dust or fingerprints under your screen protector, use sticky tape to lift them off the screen protector.

You can also just use a tiny bit of soap with water and wipe it over the screen after you have cleaned it and then lay the protector down and push the air bubbles out with the card. This is the technique used to apply decals to cars and worked perfectly well on my protector so I could get it to sit exactly where I wanted it. Let it dry over night and you're all done.

i never knew there was less dust in the room when there is steam present...although it makes sense. what kind of soap do you recomend? and is that just for protectors that stay w/ static electricity or does it work with protectors that use adhesive?edited: Dec 06 2006

Wow. Great guide! I bought my screen protector right around the time I got my PSP and I put it on wrong too...thinking it was just simply like placing a sticker. I followed the steps in your guide, and well...let's just say my screen protector looks a lot better than it did before. Thanks!
