You will need
• A video
• PSP Video 9

Instructions
• First create a new profile in PSP Video 9
• Choose your settings
• Check the box which says crop input video
• Set the numbers to 60 on the boxes at the top and bottom and click apply
• Finally, convert your video using the profile you just created and you will have the black bars removed in the output video.

Note
The numbers that should be entered in the two boxes works for most videos. If there are still a little bit of the black bars left in the output video, just redo the conversion with the numbers increased a little bit.

So aren't you then taking out 120 pixels from your videos that you can't get back? Why would you do that? Why don't you just select the zoom feature if you want to make 4:3 material appear to be 16:9 widescreen.

this is a great tip . . . . . not.
Cropping the top and bottom of the input image will basically zoom PSP video 9 in on the frame, which means that the left and right edges of the frame will be cut off. You're making a pan-and-scan transfer from the widescreen, xcept with this tip, the frame doesn't pan back and forth, so this is actually WORSE than pan and scan.

I've been using this method for a long time now but not even once did I end up with a lousy video or one with the left and right edges also being cut off.

For those that just can't handle those nasty blacks bars and are planning to crop: Most people mindlessly crop both edges equally.

Instead, I recommend retaining the left most side of the movie (including the left most edge) when your crop the movie to fit your screen. The prettiest girls in most movies are almost always on the left side of the screen. The right most side of the movie is usually less interesting than the left side. If you're going to cut off part of the movie to avoid those nasty black bars, then make it the right hand side that gets cut.

Another option is to make two versions: first watch the left most side of the movie, then watch the right most side second time through. That way you can see what you missed during the first partial viewing.

Dripping with scarcasmly yours,

Jeffy

Don't know about the rest of you, but when I crop 60 off the top and botton then it stretches the image to fill the gaps where I cropped out the 60. Sure it's all on screen and you have no bars any longer, but your image is distorted because it's being stretched to fit.

i forgot to tell that you must set your resolution to 368x 208 for the cropping process to work without the video being stretched
