Oh the Glory of a Ceramic White PSP. It is even more eye catching than my old one with the Liquid Silver Faceplate. It shows no finger prints, and I really like how it feels in my hand. I think the white paint Sony used feels a little grippier than the paint on the black one.
We all know the details of the PSP. There isn't much difference with the Japanese version. Some say the UMD door spring is springier, but I'm not noticing a big difference. The screen does not appear to be any sharper or brighter. The headphone port sounds as if it's the same quality as the older one. The wi-fi looks to be just as strong as the U.S. version. They both use all of my memory stick duos. They both have no issues connection to any of my PC's or Mac. The only major differences seem to be the language it comes set to, the main selection button, no U.S. UMD movie playback, and of course the color.
Setting the language to English was no big deal. Every PSP supports a ton of languages. I just counted the number of steps to change the language setting on my old PSP and then did the same thing on the white one. Then I set it up to use my wireless network so I could update the firmware. That was just as easy as with my black/silver one. Actually it was easier since I know what I'm doing now. No weird inexplicable errors this time because I have mac address filtering turned on.
The Japanese use the circle as the selection button instead of the X, which makes much more sense to me. It's no deal at all in games. The game itself sets the button configuration. In Metal Gear, the buttons have always been that way even on U.S. PSPs. Outside of games, it didn't take much time to get used to the button setup. I only have an issue when the white PSP needs to be charged and I have to go back to my old one for a while.
As for UMD movies, I can't understand why people buy those things anyway. They cost too much to only be used on the PSP. It doesn't take long to rip a DVD and play that movie from a memory stick. Ripped DVD movies play just fine on any PSP from Japan or the U.S. This includes DVDs from other regions. There are a lot more movies on DVD than there will be on UMD anytime in the future, if ever.
The color is just plain gorgeous. It's really eye catching. Right after I ordered it I bought a clear case before it ever got here. With it in that case, and hanging on a neck strap, I got a LOT of compliments on it. Mostly from girls for some reason. :-) Even my own girlfriend threatens to steal it all the time and she hates video games. I think she is just jealous of the attention I give it, though. She named my old one Penelope and called it my other girlfriend. I went ahead and named this new one Persephone just to irritate her.
I must admit that I was worried about importing something so expensive. The first one I tried to get on eBay and that was just a total disaster. The idiot selling it didn't actually have any. It took me weeks to get my money back. Plus I was worried about dead pixels or other hardware problems. But eventually I had to cowboy up and get me one. The pictures of them on the web were just to enticing. I got it from Lik-sang.com for about two hundred dollars (the Standard Pack with just the PSP and AC adapter) plus about $25 for shipping. It had to come all the way from China (through Japan actually) and it only took two days to get all the way to Michigan. I liked that a lot, I can say. That was back in August and after six weeks of almost constant use, I have no dead pixels. Everybody dance! It also came with a one year warranty. If it has any problems that are covered under Sony's warranty, I will have to ship it back to Lik-Sang, and they only ship PSPs back to Japan for repair once a month. Not having it for weeks or months would suck, but at least it has a warranty. I can't imagine that I would have a problem with it anyway. Even after taking my old one apart a few times it's been very reliable, so I imagine this new one would be just as reliable.
I say if you want one and you are willing to pay another few hundred bucks for one just because it's pretty, get yourself one. Even if you don't wear it, you'll still look awesome playing it. Now I just have to wonder how cool the pink one will be. .

The white PSP is just like the black ones you can buy in Best Buy or any other store. The only big difference is that fact that you cant play UMD movie that are region 1 (Since the white PSP is made is Japan you can only play region 2). This do not effect game, for some reason they made all games for the PSP no regional (which is a major plus). There is one other difference it is that instead of the select button being "X" (like ever thing in the U.S.) it is "O" because in Japan "O" is there default select button and "X" is the back button. This is a little hard to get use to if you have never play a game like Metal Gear Solid.
If you got a extra $50 bucks and want to stand out, I suggest getting a white PSP (here is the site I bought mine from, it is the cheapest one I found so far->http://www.play-asia.com ). Also if the UMD is bugging you here a solution, try to get two memory sticks (1m and up). Then get a program for you computer that can rip DVD on to it (if you got have a DVD drive there only like $100 for a external one). After this just download “PSP Video 9” and convert them to MPG4. So you can put them on your white PSP (this also is a good idea for anyone that does not want to buy UMD movies).

I got it about two days ago, and am already having problems. For starters, it has been updated to v2.06, when the box states it is v2.01. Within the second day of having it, a few dead pixels have appeared. There also was no demo UMD included. Furthermore, it is only region 2, which means it will not play US movies, I am from the UK, so that does not really apply to me, but it is a bit of a let down though. Overall, it is really sleek and sexy, and the new colour shows all of the lines and contours beautifully. There are bound to be some minor issues, as it is coming from abroad, but it is worth the extra money if you want to be unique.

I must admit that I love the black one, and I also wanted a black iPod, but I wound up getting a white iPod and so I just felt the need to match (and be original at the same time while in the NYC subways - LOLOL).
It looks every bit as beautiful as it does in the pictures if not more. Sucks that I will have some issues with movies since it plays the movies from the Japan Region (I think that's Region 2) but I didn't buy my PSP for movies - it's not my thing, so I really don't lose out.
If you want something different but still want it to be Sony PSP and aren't willing to hit up the faceplates then this is where it's at and it cost the same (just the movie region issue to consider). LOVE IT!

Bought this a couple days ago. Looks really sleek.
To be honest, I preferred the black one, just because the white stands out while watching movies/shows/playing games. On the black it always looked like the image was floating everytime I was watching something. (I kinda miss the black one). Buttons are better on this one, the directional pad is a bit stronger to press but I guess I can wear it in. UMD is more springy. Kinda gets dirty but I always play with it in my PGP anyway. hopefully I can pick up some white decal girl skins for the back of my PSP so the back doesnt get dirty. I don't have to worry about the front getting dirty since its about the same glossy finish like the black one. I guess get white if you really want to stand out, and if you think you wont be buying usa UMD movies.

I like the white PSP overall (I think it looks better than the black one despite a few extra bucks), but I found 6 stuck/dead pixels after 3-4 days of receiving it so i'm not happy with that. You can change the system language to english if you can't read Japanese and so on. Get white if you're willing to spend the extra money.

Only downfall is RC2 and 3 for movies, but I don't really intend on buying any ever.
WARNING: DO NOT STORE IN PROTECTIVE BAGS OR CASES THAT HAVE DYED FIBER INSIDE.
Any dyed fibers have a risk of trasfering the color to the back, sides and buttons of your White PSP. This happened to me and I had to spend a hour to clean it all off.
