When I first got this and tried to use it, I was confused. In fact, I even gave up and tried to find another program, however after being unable to, I tried this again. The main flaw is that I needed a text file. I will now explain how I got a word document file changed and put on my PSP. However I never tried using a thing with pics, I just used stories that I put on my PSP, so this is a text transfering program, I dunno about pics.
A program you will need is Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Profesional (or 5 or 4 or 7 I dunno this is just the one I have). Open this program and then open the word document you want on this program. Then save the word document as an accesible text file (txt). Open this text file, now the problem is there is no spaces, but you can still tell when theres a new paragraph. It looks like this:
dbfudbfuobdfbdobffkdnflnldfdhfjhflhlfdhdflf
fjdjldfbnjldbnfjlbdfjblfdbfldbfdlbfdlbfdlbfdlldf
fjjdfjj (<<<and heres the new par)
dbsfjbjfbbdfjbfbkfbjfjfjdfjdbfjbdjfbjdbfkdfb
So it's all good.
But heres the only problem, sometimes when you do this there will be spaces that aren't even supposed to be there randomly (there are very few though). All you needa do is scroll through your text file and delete that space by simply clicking backspace.
When you got that text file ready, you open this program (jpeg book). Click on font and select how you want the text to look. I just use Arial text, normal, at 9 font size and it looks very very good. Then on the text file space select text file you just made and put it there (there's a little icon you click on it and select the file). Then you can also select a background, I like the 3rd greenish one that comes with this program. It looks good, thats what I would pick. Then there's a Prefix box you fill in. I just put the name of the story, so when it makes the pages it titles them (if the story name was tree) tree1, tree2, tree3, and so on with the diff pages.
Next select the output dir, which basicly selects where your files go. Click start and the thing ddoes its process, it takes about a minute for 60 pages or so, so it's pretty fast. When it's done, go to the dir you sent the files nd you will see them. Now depending on the file size you used and the font size it can be anywhere from 10 pages to 500 or more. Create a new folder and label it the name of your story or whatever. Put all the images with the text (that jpeg book just created) into that folder (all at once, so highlight them). Then when you USb your PSP to your comp, open the photo file. Drag the folder with your text file that you created in it into the photo folder and voila!
This process always works, and it works like a charm. I already have 8000 pages of things on my PSP (since I have a 1GB card). Now since I used a background, this is the file size: 130 pages is about 10mb. Without a background it would be even smaller. So it doesn't take up that much room.
Trust me this program rocks as long as you can make your stories or whatever text files.

Slow but ok. It can't convert PDF. Get it if you're low on cash.

Good for serving its purpose, but could be improved in many ways.
Otherwise a very good software to use.

Great little program. No need to install - just runs. Converts the text to image. Has nice backgrounds too. But, strictly a fill in of text from a text file. It has no understanding of spacing and hyphenation. Broke first letter of word at end of one line and continued word on next line. Great effort and worth the price - free!

If you're having problems with it putting the squares at the end, you've downloaded version 1.0. For one when I first did this, I didn't go into the font part, and because no font was selected, apparently, it came up with an error for every damn page, also, the squares at the end of every damn line or paragraph. Not to mention them being out of order since the file names were too long. It was using 6 numbers behind the title, which was "book" by default. The PSP seems to only like 8 characters long or less, the new version uses 3 numbers after the title for the early pages, I haven't tried it yet but I'm assuming it does go to 4 letters once past 999 pages.
This thing takes forever to get going(only does about 1 page per second), then near the end it's just blazingly fast(probably around 10 pages per second), but still, it takes a bit too long to do it I think. Also the quality seems to be a little higher, well, it should be, considering it's running around 4kb more per image, so not all of this book will fit on the 32mb card, oh well though, I plan on getting a 1gb card fairly soon.

A little more controls on the way the book might be read would be better. Being able to place pages lenghtwise of the PSP would make it really bookish. But alas the files are just way too big. Better off for people to get PDF2PSP. Files are smaller and controls are better.

This app is EXCELLENT for converting files to .jpg format for easy viewing on your PSP. The simplicity is the program's charm and its demise. It would be nice to have an option for text placement, but overall, it does what it's supposed to do very well.

For mac users, at least, PSPBook is easy to use and has nice features. If you want to convert other documents, try PDF2PSP.

Very nice program. Would be nice if it auto-adjusted text files, but I've had no other problems with it. Works best with .txt files.

This will convert only text files and it puts small squares at the end of sentences (where there was a return carrige on the original txt file). So you get a readable output and the background images can be nice, but the formatting of the text in the output file is quite bad. Bad enough i didn't enjoy reading it.
