I bought Headphone with Remote Control from amazon for $5 and its worth it if you buy it at such a low price. If you have an ipod the headphones that come with it is 10 to 20 times better then this. The volume does not go far enough, and its not as comfortable to wear in your ears.

The remote on the other hand is good, but again could have been made more sturdier then it is. It almost feels that its going to fall apart.

Buy it only if you want to have all PSP accessories or you find it cheap like I did on Amazon or Ebay.

Nice sound and everything but they hurt your ears after awhile.

50
But I wouldnt say they are excellent. I find after about an hour I get sore ears which make them pretty hopeless for me.

Ok

They are ok, not the best or the worst. Without the extra length of the remote my headphones cant reach my ears. As if I liked headphones. They are ok except I can't stand them having to be in my ears. Keep the remote for sure. Get new headphones tho. Even though many people think you have an ipod with your ugly white headphones you will like new ones anyways. The remote on the other hand is very handy. This lets you control the sound by a remote. So that you dont have to constantly whip out you 250 dollar peice of equipment to turn down the volume.

Usually products that come packaged with system are pretty mediocre, however I have been impressed with the headphones and remote control that came bundled with the Sony PSP.

The remote control is very easy to use and is a pretty decent size which makes for ease of use. The headphones themselves are pretty good too. Now they are not going to knock your socks off but they get the job done, they do not have a whole lot of bass, but then I like my ear drums perfectly how they are.... WORKING! Great for playing games with, great for listening to music with! Overall, good headphones!

50
The remote was a very good idea from Sony. It can be used for the basic operations of audio. I personally did not like the headphones though, they hurt my ears after extended use. The good thing is that you can use other earphones with the remote.

60
I found the ear buds uncomfortable. The sound quality produced by them seems sub-par compared to other Sony headphones. The remote that is included can be useful and functions properly. However it feels very fragile cheap. If you are planning on using the PSP to listen to music while on the go, the remote included in the package is worth the money. Bottom line, if you are looking for a new set of headphones I suggest you put your money on some that sound and feel a little better. If you find a wired remote will be useful then buy the package and toss the included headphones in the trash.

After being a regular iPod user, I suppose I am used to high quality headphones, but these are terrible. They have a horrible cheap feeling about them and the sound quality is very poor. It seems strange that Sony would spend so much time developing such a great machine as the PSP and then include these terrible headphones with them. They make listening to music on the PSP painful instead of enjoyable.

The remote is not much better either. It's concept is good, as no-one wants to be fumbling around in their pockets or bag just to change a track, but apart from that this remote is seriously lacking. It feels VERY cheap, very nasty and 'plasticky', and the buttons are horrible to press. Why they didn't spend a little bit more time to create these and use some better quality plastic is beyond me!

The only thing I do like is the colour, as this provides a nice contrast against the machine, but apart from that...

My advice to you is go grab yourself some Apple iPod headphones instead and enjoy music on your PSP properly!

This headphone with remote that come with your PSP value pack is the most annoying device SCEA to include in with your value pack. Most of you agree with me? I'm far more than sure you will agree with me.

This headphone is annoying because you have to get one ear piece across the backside of your neck to put it in your ear. I can't believe SCEA would even think about letting this go. I was on the train one day trying to put the headphone across the backside of my neck, it was so frigging annoying, everyone staring at me like as if I was some retarded kid trying to put on some head phones. Give me a break.

Now for the control device (Remote) of your mp3's. Overall its a pretty cool thing to function your PSP with while you're listening to music. But why not attach a small little LCD display to show what music is playing?!

Final evaluation of this equipment, White? Why would SCEA display a glossy black portable entertainment system with a pair of WHITE headphones? Beats me, I think they were trying to copy cat Apple's IPOD headphones. Maybe because its a "cool" thing this year to use white headphones. In New York City Transit System, there were several cases where innocent people were being targeted who had white headphones on indicating they had an IPOD. At the time of release of the IPOD, it was so popular, people were getting robbed at gunpoint on the trains cause the suspects automatically knew WHITE headphones means WHITE IPOD. Whatever the case maybe about the white headphones that SCEA released with the PSP made no sense at all. Also I'd like to state that the volume on the headphone that come with your Value Pack is garbage, it sucks! I use my IPOD-Nano's headphones on my PSP.

That is how much I hate those darn headphones. Hope this review helped all of you as it helped me.

These have to be the best headphones by far because today I left to get some coffee from my work and I didn't notice when I had left but my right ear bud had fallen into some ranch dressing. All I had to do was wipe it off and it still works perfectly!!! A must have for any situation. Plus they have the best sound of any earbuds i've used in a while, it's very hard to find earbuds with ANY bass whatsoever!

Ok

As the default headphone you'd expect something that's not too shabby yet nothing too expensive or amazing. These infact remind me of the iPod headphones due to the sleek white color & shape.

What lets it down sadly is the wiring. You have the left headphone connected to the right ones wire which dangled below your throat and sadly without the control stick extension the wire feels too short to put your PSP in your pocket and listen and with the extension connected it feels too long, this was my biggest issue.

Fortunately this is the only downside of these otherwise great headphones. They are quite comfortable to wear and won't break or snap easy (I should know, I dropped mine in water and they still work fine) so you're getting a decent piece of hardware for your money.

100
Only one disadvantage, if you don't put the hold button on, it is easy to accedently fast forward to another song.

100
Not much to say except that it's cool that it comes with the pack. It's not like I can't convice you to buy it, after all it's a freebie.

70
I wasn't expecting much greatness to come from these headphones, as they were packed in with the Value Pack. I wasn't surprised either, as they were as good as your average cheapo headphones. Their sound quality is fairly decent and they fit comfortable, so that's a good thing. The remote however wasn't that great. In a remote I'd like something that isn't so tacky, but instead I get this crappy thing. Also I really don't like the headphones and remote being white, it just doesn't match my Black PSP. Overall, these are an average pair of headphones. I wouldn't buy them if they are seperate nor should anyone else, unless they were dirt cheap.

OK

These earphones are nice for the PSP. I once used them for MP3 player (not the remote) and the cord was too short. Then I used the remote and headphones for the PSP then the cord was too long. The sound was really good but I got tangled with the cord. None the less the headphones are great , but the cord was too long (even adjusting it with the clip).

46
Sorry Sony but these kinda blow, nice try though.

Pros
• Remote control

Cons
• Doesnt stay in ur ear
• Uncomfortable
• Shaped weird

75
This headphone, remote combo is a nice addition to the PSP. It produces very good sound quality. The remote is good if you want to put your PSP in a case and change songs or change the volume without having to take out your PSP and expose it to the sun or anything else. For people with small ears, this may not be so good . The headphones will always fall out of your ears when you move or when the remote falls off of your lap. It gets annoying. But if you have expeirience with these kind of headphones and it works for you, you should definitley get it.

Ok
84
I had these for two weeks before I got the left one to kinda go out and get fuzzy because I love my music loud. The remote is cool but I want better headphones.

35
These headphones are horrible for me. They don't fit in my ears and if I can keep them in for more that two minutes, they turn my ears red. I simply cannot wear them. And, the cord is a little long.

On the bright side, they are very nice looking, and the remote is a good idea (especially because they are gold plated, which means they last longer and have better quality sound). Unfortunatly, the remote doesn't work in anything else because they have an extra little thing on them.

10
Keep the remote, but ditch the headphones. One, they look like iPod earphones. Two, they are not very loud. Three, they fall out of your ear every three seconds.

87
They are bundled headphones which almost always are not brilliant quality, not sure why they are white but they are alright sound wise.

60
I never use the remote, but the headphones aren't too bad.

65
This product came with the PSP. Since it came with it, why not use it? After a long term use this product hurt my ears. Yea so just tellin you, if it didn't come or you lost yours. Do not pick this up. Go with the Ear Subs from Headbangers.

99
Came with the PSP. Things seem way better when listening with these. Recommended when you want to get away from all surrounding noises. Make use of it, you know?

70
The headphones are subpar for me though. But I'm a bit of an audiophile. I'd suggest getting something better, especially for music. I don't anticipate using the remote much, but it gets the job done.

85
The best feature and part of this is the remote. I can't wait till there are even better versions in the future like a remote with an LCD display. Or the Neckstrap headphones/remote that Sony has still yet to deliver. I'm not a big fan of earbuds as they usually fall out of my ear. So it's a plus that you can swap out whatever headphones you want. All in all, it's a decent combo.

85
If you are confortable with and like these type of headphones, then they should work pretty good for you. I do like my Apple one's better, but hey, these Sony buds are basically free.

Ok
50
I really like the remote that came with it but the ear buds that came included with it are HORIBLE they hurt my ears even though there sound quality is good

87
The headphones are pretty good overall but they kinda irratate your ears. They have this cool thing that lets you play, rewind, fast forward , etc. Overall they're pretty good. If you dont like earplugs I suggest you dont't get these.

65
Not great , just okay. The sound isn't very good (I like my iPod in-ear bus much better), but they came with my value pack. I also think the cord is a bit too short

61
These ear plugs suck! They don't stay in your ears! The only thing I like is the remote control and I just plug a pair of headphones in it. Don't buy them.

70
I own several pairs of earbuds including Sennheiser MX500 and Sony MDR-EX71SL/WK. The PSP earphones are similar in sound reproduction quality to the Sennheiser MX500s. They don't fit my ears quite as well. The packaging is very simple, and there are no foam covers for the earbuds.

The included remote adds on a considerable length to the cord. I believe that it is ~1 meter in length. The remote's cord is comparable in length to the extension cord included with Sony's other earphones. I personally feel that the remote's construction is rather flimsy. I've kept mine wrapped up and stowed away because I don't find it too useful.

Use the Sony PSP earphones if you don't have another pair. Otherwise, don't bother buying these. I would strongly suggest the Sony MDR-EX71SL/WK over the PSP earphones.

75
For the purpose of this review, I am going to compare these products with the items of the same use that are packed with any Apple iPod, those being the iPod Remote and iPod in ear earphones.

Earphones: I personally see no real quality difference between the two earphone's sound quality for simple gaming these headphones are more than good enough, and when using headphone I have found you hear thing you don’t normally hear with the PSP's speakers. For being pack in earphones they are of descent quality but if I bought a Standard Pack (Non value) I would not have purchased the headphones because I can pick up better quality phones for simply use another pair (like my Apple earphones). It is also quite obvious PSP is trying to get into the iPod market with having a white pair of earphones and I personally would have loved a black par as I don't think the white goes with the shiny black console.

Now onto the remote, These are a GREAT item for listening to music when you have your PSP in your pocket/backpack but can be very clumsy when you are playing a game, as most button on this are rendered useless and the remote just gets in the way (It could have been cool if you could browse in game soundtracks with the remote tho). Also similar in design to Apple's offering the remote is of about the same usefulness when listening to music on either system tho in this case Apples Remote is of much better build quality where the PSP Remote feels like cheap plastic and it will break if you press a button too hard. Yet another I team that should have been black but Sony decided to borrow the iPod's colour scheme.

Over all these are descent items but could have been of better build quality in my opinion and would have matched/looked better if they were in black and not white.

In an age where we feel compelled to leave nothing stock on anything we buy, why do companies even try? I know that may sound a bit harsh, but it's true. We have come to the point that everything in our lives has to be "custom" or "modded" in some shape or form. Don't believe me? What's that window on your PC for? Why does it need neons? Is it some new requirement to run Windows XP? For that matter, why do our cars need neons? Is it because we all thought we'd have hover crafts by now and are making up for it?

Let me try to get back on topic here, and explain my point. The remote and earbuds that came with the PSP are great, but I can guarantee most will get new ones. I would have liked to see the PSP without this accessory and possibly the remote separate. I personally scrapped my stock headset in favor of the Sony Stereo Earphones MDR-EX81LP/W.

With the way people enjoy making things "their own", it would be nice to see more stripped down PSP packages that we, the consumers, can customize our selves and not have so much useless "stock" accessories rotting away in our closets.

Pros
• The cord design is great and helps prevent tangles.
• The iPod style remote is just great. I personally still use it even with my new earbuds.

Cons
• Sound quality is pretty poor, but decent for “stock”
• The earbuds don’t seem to fit to well, at least in my ears anyway

75
Overall
It looks like it was designed to be an iPod accessory but got repurposed for the PSP. First, its white. Second, the remote looks like the navigational pad on the iPod. The material quality is good however and doesn't appear cheap.

Headphones
The inserts are bigger than I'm accustomed to but not uncomfortable. People with smaller ears may have problems with it. As other people have mentioned, it definitely lacks bass. By itself, the cord isn't long enough to use without the remote. It's decent until you get a replacement.

Remote
In the world of product development, there's always a struggle between design and usability. In this case, design won. The controls on the unit aren't the easiest or most intuitive to use. I would have much preferred a standard layout which would have made more room for other buttons like a STOP, MUTE, and on/off buttons. The cord is exremely long, which wouldn't be bad if you could put the PSP in your backpack and control everything from the remote. Simply put, you can't do everything you want from the remote so I don't get the reason for having the cord that long. I took some zip ties and shortened the cord. I also wish the plug was L-shaped or more flexible. It sticks straight out of the PSP making it awkward when its in your pocket. Other that that, it does what it does and nothing more. It's definitely not a reason to get the value pack. I could live without the remote.

60
I'm dissapointed with the headphones. After all - THEY ARE the main reason (except the pouch) for buying the Value Pack instead of a standard pack (if you import the Japan PSP version, like I did - due to compatible UMD region for Europe and lower price than US). The first few minutes were enough to make my judgment - these ARE NOT headphones I'm gonna use with my PSP in the future. OK, the shape is right for keeping them in ears - but that doesn't mean they STICK to your ear hole and you hear the sound better - it's exactly the opposite. The plastic-rubber coating doesn't help either, making them a little "slippery" and after all they "rattle in your ear" instead of sitting firmly. The PSP isn't very loud itself, so hearing the game's sound in noisy places like a bus or train isn't easy - and you can hear all the surroundings, which takes away from your gaming pleasure. The remote is OK - simple and intuitive, covering all our needs for controlling music and even movies. If you have the Value Pack - stick to the remote but change the headphones.

50
I think I am going to invest in a pair of those SHURE $100 earbuds that are designed for studio performance...

I need more UMPH!

The controls are also a little "simple" in comparison to Sony's previous offerings for the MD devices. Plus- if you use the clip that is on it, you will have to think upside-down when using the buttons! Um- did you guys not actually TEST the thing when you created it? Why use the clip if you have to keep 'un-clipping' to use the remote?!?!?

75
The only reason I wanted the value pack was these headphones, they have a stylsih design and looks good with the PSP, but they could have been even better. First of all I think the wire is way too big, who needs 2m of wire? And they tend to fall out quite often (especially when moving). But if you are sitting in the car or on the plain these are great for gaming, video and music, the sound is good and they look stylish. If you're planning on sitting still these are great.

50
Ok so you've got your PSP in one hand, with its super duper visuals, what about some super duper audio?

My first impression of the PSP earphones were that they looked like a wanabe iPod earphones, and were out of tint, they should be black. The remote is also very out of place, and I think, are a lame attepmt to duplicate an iPod's famous click-wheel. I do like the set up of the spliter of the Left and right bud, because in school i only keep one bud in my ear,, so with this setup I can have it hanging around my neck (but it wont be they hurt too much!).

The earphones if used for about 10 minutes + are a little painfull to my ears...so I use my Apple IN ear headphones, with the soft silicon tips, and for now, the included remote, well because I need it...flashing a PSP every 5 minutes isnt a smart thing to do in a big city like Toronto.

The actual headphones, I give 60/100 mostly becuase the sound is pretty good, but the feel isnt. And the remote 35/100 Because of its cheap feeling, and unoriginal.

60
These are OK headphones for playing games, but I would use a better pair for listening to music or watching movies. The remote seperates from the headphones, so you can use it seperatly.

Pros
- Remote unit won't annoy your left hand while playing
- Remote great for music playback
Cons
- Not very comfortable, fall out of your ear easily
- Don't Match the PSP hardware
-OK sound quality

100
The remote is a nice thing to have. After figuring out how to transfer music in ATRAC3plus form, I got a whole CD on the 32mb stick, plus some pics to try that feature out too. Anyways I really like the remote and the headphones. And the color is nice too. It contrasts very well with the black of the PSP. The only thing that could make it better would be if they came out with a lcd remote, or better yet, make it a oled remote. The only thing that I didnt like about the PSP value pack was the case, that i'm replacing.

97
I have read reviews saying these headphones aren't that good, but in my opinion that's wrong. In my opinion these earbuds have great sound quality. I don't have songs on my psp yet, so I don't know much about the remote besides the fact that you have the option to detatch it. These earbuds are different than other ones I have used before. I mean, you wear them differently. you put the left one on your left ear( obviously) and you take the right one around the back of your neck into your right ear. The only problem I have with these earbuds I that it is hard for them to fit into my ears.

67
These earphones i found to be surprisingly good when i first used them with ridge racer and lumines. I starting to think that IGN and Gamespot were a lil to harsh on saying it was not that good. But after testing it out for playing one of my music cds i noticed a big difference in quality. I realized that these earphones are complete crap when it comes to music with alot of Bass( and i thought my older headphones were crap)

In the end these are ok for games and i dont mind that they are white but if you want great quality for listening to ur music i suggest investing in a better set of earphones.

80
The remote works as promised, and the earphones aren't too bad. Got these with the value pack, but i've found my sony NUDE:EX in-ear type earphones to be a much better match.

Sony should include some way to keep the whole thingmajig from tangling itself up though....

95
Well most people have said that th headphones are ok for gaming but poor with music. Well i have to say these headphones are realy good. They are of a good standard for music and games, plus i dont find them uncomfortable at all.

The inline remote is a bit fidly at first but once you have used it a few times its is really good. Definatly good quality and good value.

The headphones look great and bear resemblance to the ipod headphones. THe while is a good contrast to the black of the psp so full marks for looks.

Good quality headphones i have used better headphones in the past but these are fine for use with your psp.

85
Why all the hate?

So many people are putting up bad reviews for the headphones so i had to write it a good review. Or atleast one that isn't as harsh as the other ones on here.

When i first bought my PSP value pack, i was skeptical of the quality of the headphone/remote because of the bad reviews. But when i used them all i had to say was..."WOW!" They were way better then i thought they would be. People might expect these headphones to be the top of the line $500 dollar headphone (im just makin up a #) but remember the value pack is only like $40 more then the valuepack so dont expect everything.

As for the remote yes there are some problems with that. Like when i try to click it on i sometimes press the rewind button (<< or how you cant swivel the click on the back in different directions so you either can clip it rightside up or upside down. So just have the hold button on when your not gonna press any buttons.

Color...i like the white. Reminds me of the i-pod headphones, or atleast everyone at my school though i got the "newest i-pod headphones" but they were even more suprized to see it was for a PSP!

so my ratings are:
90 for headphones (think of the pricing i tell ya!)
75 for the remote (yes this could be better, come on sony!)
Final is 85

77
In a weird twist, Sony has put these crazy earbuds into every value pack. Although they look esthetically pleasing, they don't get the job done in my book. The sound quality is alright at best, yet if you are partial about your audio quality, you should go get some Shure earbuds or some N.U.D.E.S.

Anyway, they come with the value pack, so it's not a huge loss if you don't enjoy the use of them. Also included in the headphones is a built in remote control. This feels a bit clunky, and cheap on Sony's Part. I would've rather paid more for a better performing piece of equipment.

Overall, the two aren't the WORST headphones out there, but if you try to win any contests with these, good luck..you won't win.

98
I read the previous review of this product and felt an urge to dispel the negative vibe from it... I bought the PSP Value Pack and I wasn't too anxious to have yet another set of headphones since I already own a pair of Etymotic ER-6 earphones. Nonetheless, I tested them out with Lumines and Vampire Chronicles: The Chaos Tower. I'd also like to note that I am one of the most irrational people you'll ever meet I am prone to disliking things without giving them a moment's thought. Well, my little audiophile world was ROCKED by the quality of these headphones and no the remote doesn't feel fragile. I find the headphones to be very comfortable which is strange because most headphones tend to hurt my ears after a short period of use. The sound is amazing to say the least. I don't mind the color of the headphones even though they don't match the system but I do have to admit that I find the remote a bit large...

51
These are ok. Will upgrade when (if) Sony brings out some better headpones with a cool remote, hope it has a blue lit LCD display on them.

50
First of all I think it looks awfull, to plug this white thing in the jetblack PSP. The remote feels very fragile, and it doesn't feel very SONY. Also the headphones doesn't have a very good sound, or fit. Maybe it was made for Japanese, and not for Scandinavians.
