This game is really hard to rate for me. However if you are even a slight fan of stradegy games this game is a must get to your collection of PSP games. If you go to gaming sites (ing, etc) most will give it a 6 or 7. That is because they only played it for about 30 minutes and dont even understand most of it. The hard part of this game is the learning curve. I heard that some people can take up to 3 hours before they even figure out how to play correctly. Before I got this game I read a 18 page manual from the internet describing it in detail. For the 1st 20 minutes of gameplay I was confused After 40 I got the hang of it. In an hour I was addicted beyond belief. So now onto the actual review.
Graphics
Nothing exceptional, but not bad. Sprites could be a little better but I still like them. The game is pretty colorful and the specials look cool, but the graphic don;t Wow you out of your seat. They don't make you say BLEGH either though.
Sound
Opening theme is cool. I like the background sound, it's pretty good. Nothing that sticks in your brain though, but doesn't annoy you one bit. I played this game with the JPN voices (yes! you have an option to make voices dubbed or JPN with words wriiten still english, how awesome!), and the JPN voices are pretty good, I like them. I haven't heard english though, but I heard they are Ok. Im not a fan of English voice overs in general.
Gameplay
Hard learning curve, so patience is needed at first. Most commands are abbreviated and confusing, and until you play for about 2 hours, you will constantly have to check the manual for what does what. After a few hours though the gameplay is simply amazing and addicting. The game has extreme depth. gameplay is very hard to explain, you have a kingdom you run and try to take over more land, you enter battles which are real time. For battling you select a formation of your troops that last the whole battle. In game you can change what your army does -- defend commander, attack only commnder, attack everybody, etc.
The fighting happens on its own and you aren't in control, but you are in charge of the spells and super moves of your commander. Battling works by giving you control of up to 29 soldiers that vary highly in species that are pretty weak. Then you have one strong commander, and when the commander dies, the team with the dead commander loses the battle. A battle can also be a lost if youre fighting on a base and destroy the bases defense (walls). The time of day, armor, elemental attributes and character speed and species and how they attack all affect the battle outcome. When you defeat the opposing commander you make him your prisoner and actually have a chance of converting him/her to your side! There is much more to the game, but I think I stated the main impression.
Loading times
A battle takes about 4-10 seconds to start, and sometimes a little .2 second lag can occur but you barely notice it and it's rare. A lag usually occurs when words for dialoge pop up more often though, when the characters talk. Overall loading times are short and sweet, not a problem. However saving is a bit of a nag and takes longer than it should but not a big deal.
Replay value
You can play as 10 Kingdoms of story mode. Trust me, this game lasts long. So replay value is high, and then there's a free mode that's also awsome. No multiplayer, of course its kind of understandable, it would be strange and would take hours to play one game.
The reason I didn't give each factor a rating is because you have to look at this game overall. Amazing game, for any stradegy game fanatacis. Just be patient, and dont give up for an hour or two, and you'll see how great it is. Trust me, this game is worth it. Characters are anime based, so if you hate Anime or stradegy, don't get this game.
Be glad this game was ported, it's worth every penny and is actually one of the few American games out for PSP worth getting! Don't judge a game by how difficult it is to learn, but how you actually play the game when you learn how.

I hated it the first day, disliked it the second and loved it the third. A great game if you don't mind the slow speed. It is really addicting. A good buy.

Generation of Chaos has a bunch of good ideas, but it's buried underneath a confusing menu system. There is, however, a good amount of depth for those willing to tough it out and take the time to learn the system. But for those looking for a game like Final Fantasy Tactics, move on. This is more like Risk mixed in with Monopoly. Those looking for a deep strategy RPG to take on trips will find something to like in here, provided they understand what they’re getting into, and invest the time to master this hybrid game.
Presentation - 60
Poorly designed menus and interface, read Manual first. Nice character portraits, but sprites are not all that great.
Graphics - 65
Interesting character design, decent battle visuals, magic spells seem like all the same graphic effect. Some slow downs when 30 vs 30. Nice cut scene when doing supers with main Generals.
Sound - 65
It's not memorable, nothing to get really excited about.
Gameplay - 60
Rewarding strategy elements marred by sloppy menus and interface design, very deep, but only if you master it.
Lasting Appeal - 70
Pics and movies are unlockable, plus 10 Generals to go through the story. Very rewarding once you learn how to play. Had to give it a second chance to appreciate its depth.
