I have played with numerous rippers, decrypters, and shrinking programs over the years and most are fairly easy to operate once you understand the process. I have also used PSP Video 9 which actually did a pretty good job as well after some "tweaking". But quite franlky, I am having less and less time to tinker and "tweak" everytime I want to convert a movie to another format. having to use 2 and sometimes 3 tools to get the results I expect (with a fair amount of trial and error) is starting to get old.

A friend of mine has the PQDVD product to convert movies for his iPod and he was very pleased. After looking at the simple process and the consistent, quality results, I convinced myself to go ahead and purchase PSP Movie Creator from PQDVD and hav not been disappointed.

Pros
• One click processing - although there are several tunables paramters (audio quality, video quality, image size, frame rates, etc.), it works out of the box - period. From commercial DVD to MP4 in one step.
• Consistent - I get the same results wihtout having to "tweak" from movie to movie.
• Speed - although it still takes some time, significantly faster that the old method I was using with some of the other opensource & freeware tools.
• Thumbnail creation - it does allow you to take a snapshot of whatever is in the movie window to make that the thumbnail that you will see on the PSP.

Cons
• No batch mode - due to the nature of the way the software works, I do not see a way to process a batch of videos at once. It is one at a time.
• Occasional System Hangs - I cannot prove this is due to PSP Movie Creator, but after coverting say 5-6 movies back-to-back, PSPMC seems to go out to lunch on me and hangs. My best bet is to restart PSPMC every 2-3 movies and I have not seen the problem resurface. Will have to keep an eye on this one. Could be my system config?
• File Transfer - It does have a very basic interface for transferring movies to your PSP via USB or a memory stick via a USB card reader. Very basic in nature. Would be nice if it supported more formats than just MP4's.
• Thumbnail - Although you can take a snapshot (as mentioned above) - I do not see anyway to edit the name of the video as shown on the PSP. For example, if you have 10 episodes of 24 on your memory stick, the thumbnails themselves are too small to read the episode name as shown on the screen. So it would be nice to be able to change the Title to something meaningful other than "UNDEFINED", "VTS_01_01", or"Data" which is what the titles ALL currently say. Maybe there is a way to do his already and I just have not found it yet.

As you can see, my cons are minor and I am very satified with the software.

Very easy and good. You can burn subtitles into the AVI movie! You can make the movies louder. But the audio is very bad. The default settings suck! Someone must make a better setting and send it. Thats why I am not giving a high score.

The quality is acceptable, the converter will do a little sharpening on your video, which is not good to me cause it creates an obvious saw edge problem, but overally the video looks sharper and clearer. As for sound, it also amplifies the voices, and the sound is better than other converters I have used except PSP video 9, which keeps the original sound, currently the best coverter out there, in my opinion. One complaint is that there are noises in the sound, and quite noticible too, so I'm not going to give it a very high score.

I know there are programs available for converting DVDs' to play on PSP, but I'm a busy guy and spend a fair bit of time travelling. So, I don't have time to convert a DVD into one big VOB file, then convert it into an MP4.

Thankfully this app does it all in one go. And, it's very easy to use. Just pop the DVD of your choice into your PC, choose the video and sound setting to suit your memory card, press play, then record. It even creates a thumbnail for your PSP, and transfers it over in a PSP friendly file name.

So far I've converted the first Star Wars trilogy, and I'm very happy with the results.

My only complaint would be the price. Given the free alternatives, £30 (GBP) is quite alot of money. But, there is the convienience of an all in one prgram.

I just got it and have ripped a few movies including a couple of VCD's. Yes, it's a bit choppy on the PSP but for what I need it for, it's worth it. I collect many DVD's as is, so .it's great to rip my favorites onto my PSP for my plane rides.
