I haven't played very many PSP games but this game still impresses me no matter what PSP games are supposed to be like.I enjoy this game on PSP more than Ps2.
Star Wars Battle front 2 is the follow up to the first star wars battlefront game. In this game, like the last game you control different infantry blowing guys up all over the map. This time however you can be heros ( like Jedi) and also have space battles. As a jedi you get a better weapon (most likely a lightsaber) and you get special powers like force and super high jumps. This makes it much easier to run around and blow stuff up. Space battles are simple. There are 2 gigantic ships and you spawn in one take a ship and go blow stuff up. The background for the space battles is poorly done taking some fun out of this part of the game.
The graphics are pretty good. Sometimes you may notice that stuff looks abit squarish or melted but its still good. The characters look good. They are very detailed and never look squarish. I don't like however that in ever level you have the scenery disappearing into a mist this is a sign of laziness. Every thing else looks fine.
The sound is not much different from the Ps2 version. This is a good thing because the Ps2 is so much more advanced as a pose to its little friend the PSP. You will here many different gun sounds and the music plays nicely.
A lack of levels and odd controls and bad campaing are the things that really bring this game down. There are however many different level modes and you will get the controls easily but there is no positive to the campaign.
This game is really good and now with the greatest hit's price drop, it's a sure must have.

This is one of the most exciting games I own on PSP. I love it because of its features. In SWBII you can pretty much manipulate anything and enter any vehicle you see. On top of those options you can switch positions in the vehicles, play as different civilizaitons and their different types of soldiers. Also you can play as legendary heroes such as Boba Fet and Han Solo. I haven't played multi player mode yet, but would expect that it would be fun.
There are many game modes and it is an extremely detailed game.
Some of the drawbacks I found were the controls are difficult to aim with, and after you play galactic conquest mode once, there is no more to the game. The only reason I play it now is to improve my characters and unlock different features.

I like this game but it's so easy to complete, maybe because I was in thehospital when I got it and I was playing it all the time. My friends have got this on Xbox and it is way better on the Xbox. The best part about Battlefront 2 is that you can play as a Jedi or play Jedi Assault. I would recommend this game to those who liked Counterstrike on CP. WARNING: after completed this game gets so boring!!! And repetitive.

It's just so in-the-middle.
Pros
The graphics are very clean, very nice. No lag whatsoever, or, if any, barely noticeable
The gameplay is fun, and has a lot of possibilities.
Cons
The whole game just seems really, really repetitive. not a good game to buy.
Load times are terrible, almost as slow as PoP!
All in all, I have to say, it's a little fun to play around with, but its shallow, and kinda sucks.

Yeah, it was a big dissapointment, I dont really recomend this game. It was really fun at first, but got really boring.

I am hoping so bad for a good SW game on PSP but it's not going to be this one.
Graphics - 60
They were ok. There was some clipping but graphics ran fairly smooth usually.
Music/Sound - 50
Run of the mill. Not much ambient sound and the sounds it did have got repetiitve fairly quick.
Controls - 40
This was the true down fall of the game. The camera control was not smooth and very cumbersome. It took a good half hour before you can feel fairly comfortable with them. I did find myself having to look at the controls too much also.
Load Times - 60
Load times are load time. But they were kinda long with this game.
Overall
I love Star Wars and feel there has been a huge revival in Lucasarts games recently. This could have been a great game. They just needed to adjust the control scheme better.

First off, let me say that I was very much looking forward to this game. The PSP needed a decent first person shooter and I am a big fan of the Star Wars Movies. I do not have the console or PC versions of this game, the the PSP version is my introduction to the Battlefront series.
The previews of this game lauded the fact that you can jump in an X-Wing, land on an enemy destroyer and fight your way to the bridge and take control of the ship. Well, they took out the last part for the PSP version. I was (and still am) very dissappointed about that.
I got this game for Christmas. Played it a few time and then put it down. The controls take a lot of getting used to. Even navigating the map screen in Galactic Conquest got was a bit confusing and frustrated me. It was a bit of a let down.
So after a month straight of Playing SOCOM: FTB, I needed a break. I popped in BattleFront II. The game is fun. Land battles are fun, and the space battles are fun (once you figure out how to actually win one). I finally figured out how to navigate the map in Galactic Conquest mode. I actually played it for 4 staight hours last night. Probably more that all the other times combined. Once I started to understand the controls and the menus, this game entered the 'fun' category for me. I use the BASIC configuration for the controls. That seems to work fine for me.
Load times are a bit long for my taste. The graphics are an 80 (SOCOM: FTB would be a 95).
If you want a Staw Wars game for your PSP, this is it. First Person Shooter and Space Dogfighting. If you just want a First Person Shooter, then there are definitely better games out there. Biggest disappointment (other than not being able to take control of an enemy destroyer) in the lack of online play.

I have to agree and I am a huge fan of SWBF, but the controls suck on this game. Can anyone tell me why they removed the other anolog stick from the PSP? They would have to have removed it because anyone with any brains would have had it there in the first place.

I bought this game, and man was I excited, I took it back the next day!
I found this game to be a dissappointment. I can't believe that a game that was made for online would not have online, I played the original Battlefront on PC and it was good. This, just isn't that, and by that I mean Good. My biggest beef with the game is the graphics, I felt like I was going blind trying to play it, the combination of a horrible draw distance and mucky texturing gave me a huge headache.
The only other problem was trying to figure out what I was doing half the time. When I would move around, I'd get shot, and the person who killed me was always in the "fog". If it was cheaper and I could get some anti-crappy-texture glasses, then I could play this again, but for now I think I'll go out and try eating tin foil, I hear that's pretty good stuff.

The game has great graphics! It has great sound! It looks incredible! But is it incredible?
When I first got this game I was very excited. I opened it up and popped it into my PSP. When I started the game, I was trying to figure out which option was the campaign or story mode. After messing around with it for a while, I sadly realized there was'nt a story mode. So I began to play around with the other modes, which became very boring very fast. It's great if you want a game you can just pick up and play around in, but if you want a real game you'll need to look else where.
Another HUGE dissapointment is that there is no online play. This is obviously a number one candidate for online play, how could they decide not to implement this feature. It does offer Ad Hoc multiplayer, so if all your friends just happen to own this game and a PSP, you're in luck!
I could tell you more about how the games graphics are visually pleasing and how the soundtrack is great, but do I really need to?
I unfortunatley have to give this game a 5 out of 10, a little harsh? Well imagine if you bought Socom and there was no Online and no story, all you got to do was play the Instant Action missions. I bet you'd be pretty dissapointed.

This gameplay just like it's console brethren. So if your familliar with the original game or the console sequel, you'll be right at home. The addition of space borne dogfights is wonderfully executed and adds an element of gameplay that is wonderful for multiplayer.
This is the only part of the game that dragged the experience down. The graphics are good enough that you can ID friend from foe, but it's sketchy at best. Apparently, Pandemic had a shortage of Anti-Aliasing. A graphic drop was expected, but one would hope for Coded Arms grade graphic. The game doesn't even have that.
The soundtrack is enough to make Star Wars fanatics drool. It hasn't changed one bit from the movies and is faithfull reprodcued here.
It's the same collection of rocket fire and laser blasts that's been present in every Star Wars film. It makes you a bit wanting for some variation, but also glad that nobody took the liberties to chage it.
Those who use Coded Arms Type A control scheme will be right at home with the default set up for BF2. There are a few other schemes you can use, but unfortunatly you can't remap the controls to your liking as you can on the console versions of the game. So, if you didn't like Coded Arms controls, you'll be complaining here. The Starfighter controls on the other hand are pure bliss. Everything feels exactly where it should be and works wonderfully. Vehicle contols are somewhat in between, but they get the job done.
The loading times aren't that bad, but they do make you a bit ansty after a while. Each load take about 25 to 30 seconds, depending upon the map. Fortunatly, there are tips and tricks that flash on the screen to help you win the next conflict.
The three challege modes are interesting, and keep the player coming back trying to out do themselves. As for multiplayer, the lack of online play is a detriment to a game of this calibur. The other thing this game is lacking are levels. With 10 different planets and two space maps, it gets tiring. With the space on a UMD, you'd have thought there would be at least two maps per planet like the console original. There is also a lack of unlockable content, which would keep a gamer occupied for hours.
I'd only recommend this to Coded Arms and Star Wars fans as a purchase. But it is a good pick-up rental for anyone else. It'll keep you entertained for a few days and you'll do everything possible before you have to return it.

I was severaly disappointed with this out of box. It's choppy at times and the controls were insane, until I switched to "basic" then things got fun quickly.
Playability
It's weird at first, you'll be saying "oh look! I'm Boba Fett! Oh wait, Boba's dead already!?" Playing it took some getting used to but after a few hours it's really fun and quite intuitive.
Load Times
Eh, I've seen worse. I'd say probably 30 seconds between loads, maybe a minute, sometimes.
Graphics
I don't think they took full advantage of the PSP, I was wishing for a little more streamlined graphics, but I wasn't complaining too much. Darth did look a little thin though.
Sound
It's John Williams music, you've heard it for 20+ years now, of course it's great.
Overall Value
The replay on this is what's great and it's fun once you get into it but it was that learning curve that was tough at first. I think I played for about four hours tonight and made myself put it down just so I could get some sleep.
Hot Buy or Midnight Rental?
I'd say if you are a Star Wars fan and like to try out all the characters of the SW Universe, then yes, buy this game. I'm giving it a B+ because of the replay factor, if it weren't for that, I'd probably only give it a C if that.

Playability
This game takes about 30 minutes to get use to but once you do you can decimate an entire army. Yet it's hard enough that you don't stop after an hour or two. I think the best controls are default as long as you figure out how to lock on.
Load times
Could be better, could be worse. About 45 seconds to load a map, tops.
Graphics
Good but the screen is so small that you have to wach your targeting.
Sound
It has the same menu music as Halo 2 you can decide if thats good or bad.
Overall
BUY OR DIE

This game is the best in everything: graphics, load times, weapons, Jedis, absolutely everything! First of all, when I first played it I accidentally played it on the new "mission mode," where you are the only person on your side of the battle field and have to complete missions on your own, such as eliminating 45 ewoks. Well, I was so mad because I thought they couldn't fit as many soldiers on the battlefield at one time, so instead they made you the only guy, but then I did Galactic Conquest mode and saw that this game is the best.
It has almost the same graphics as the first Star Wars Battle Front, except the ground and some large things such as the AT-ATs in the snow level. The load times are very good for this kind of game, I think it's because it shows you how much has loaded, it makes it go faster, but you know, its faster than the Midnight Club 3 load times but a tad slower than the Untold Legends load times. This is the absolute best game out there so far!

I love this game. It's so addicting. They as a soldier and a Jedi. The sound is good, gameplay is fun and graphics are good. The only thing I do not like about it is the load times. Its just like the XBox/PS2 version.
