Burnout Legends is a racing game that combines many important elements like graphics gameplay and a world tour mode that seems like it never ends, to make one of the greatest if not the greatest racing game ever.

As I have mentioned, the graphics are anything but poor or even average in this game in fact they are extraordinary. You will notice that the cars look amazing the tracks look amazing and uhm oh I guess those are the only graphical things in this game. Anyway speaking of tracks, there are quite a few of those and each one is special in its own way. However, even though this "pictury" stuff is great, you will still find that the game freezes and slows down very often , although these hitch ups are very brief they will still annoy you.

The gameplay is so good. It's basically crash and destroy a whole whad of cars. In this game there is a race mode road rage mode crash mode time attack mode and pursuit mode. Race mode is the classic race which also allows you to take down cars during the race. Road Rage is probably the funnest mode in the game. In it you drive around a track avoiding traffic and taking cars down. Crash mode sets you up in a car and you drive towards traffic trying to blow up as many car as you can, with an exciting crash breaker after you've totaled enough cars. Then you have the time attack where it is you against the time. Finally pursuit in it you are the cop and you gotta take down those other scoundrels!!!

Now the World tour. 175 races of pure destruction and skilled driving. World tour mode includes so many unlock ables and when your finally finished you'll say wow I need a calculator to see how long that took and then you'll say AAAAH only 43 digits with 6 digits of powers.

Its a game without a car license but the cars are awesome. Its a game that will make you forget how long you were playing it. Its a game with awesome graphics. It's a game you should get.

This game may have 120.000.000.000. crash missions, but all have big istakes. First, I remember in one mision I needed to jump on a ramp, it was turned to a tree. You need to be very concentrated and have a very exelent eyes. One problem can be also the score. In one mission I totaled 14 cars (not trucks or buses) and I had 314.980 and in another mission I totaled 17 cars(not trucks or buses) and I had 345.760.

This was a great game. I played the console versions and I liked it alot. So I decided to give burnout legends a try for PSP. And wow all I can say is that this game is jus as good on the PSP. Although there are only 4 burners instead of the 12 burners from the console versions. The games graphics are also very good. Its a great racing game on the go, and if you are a fan of the burnout series on the console then you should go and pick up burnout legends for PSP.

Burnout Legends is a combination of all the Burnout games before it (thus the Legends title). So you can expect to see modes and cars from previous games. I just got into Burnout with number 3 but even then I only played someone else's copy. This is my first game in the seris and I love it.

Gameplay
Basic gameplay works like this. You race against other cars in different events such as a typical race, or pursing one car as a cop, or elimation style races. There are a few more event types than that but they all share one thing in common, the abilty to crash into your opponents for some dazzling car crunching action. There is also the "Crash" mode where the whole aim of the event is to just create the biggest crash possible using the enviroment and powerup items (you win based on the amount of money you earn from each destroyed vehicle). However, all of this can get a little boring after awhile but if you play it in short runs it's a lot more fun.

Graphics
Graphics aren't on par with Ridge Racer or Wipeout Pure but are solid none the less (and runs at 30 fps). You'll soon understand how hard it must have been for them to get the run a game like Burnout this well on the PSP in the first place. There are particle effects and slow mo going on all around but the engine keeps on chugging along. So if you are used to it seeing fantastic graphics on the consoles, just imagine that, scaled down. Loading times are a bit long compared to others but are managable enough not to distract you completely.

Sound
The music is a pop-rock, punk-rock, metal affair. You'll either like it or you won't. The sound effects are awesome. You'll hear roaring engines and crunching metal the way it was meant to be heard. Top notch.

Replayability
Game is pretty beefy. I'm only 48% complete with it and there are 175 events, secrect takedowns for each level to get, all of the gold medals, secrect cars, etc. This game will last you for a long while even if you play it for hours at a time.

Summary
I managed to get this game for super cheap the other day and I don't regret it one bit. It's one of the must own racing titles for the PSP. I may go as far as reccommending it over Wipeout Pure (I <3 Wipeout like crazy). Even if you aren't a huge fan of racing games you'll probably dig this one as it has a way of appealing to everyone who's ever driven a car.

For those of you who are familiar with the Burnout series on the PS2 should feel right at home with this version on the PSP. The fantastic visuals are preserved, including all those great damage physics that we all know and love about the Burnout series.

As a compilation of the first 3 Burnout games with a little sprinkling of some of the play modes from Revenge, this is a definate must for anyone who enjoyed the series on the bigger consoles. -- As an added bonus, this title also makes use of the PSP's GAMESHARING feature, and allows for a single race to be transfered to another PSP using only 1 copy of the game. It works great too, but users should be made aware that it does take about 5-6 minutes to transfer all the data to the other PSP.

Highly recommended!

This is the first game I bought for the PSP. The graphics are nice and when you play it in multiplayer. Pwn your friends.

80
Nice graphic, great gameplay (come on it's Burnout!), nice music. But been there done that on a bigger screen. Not worth $50.

87
This game is very good, at first. The first time you play a race or a takedown match, the game is awesome and you think you're gong to play it for the rest of your life. I agree they are pretty sweet crashes and the graphics are tight, at first. Heres the negative side -- the crashes just get boring and the music gets irratating. And also the story mode gets boring because it's the same thing over and over. It just starts to suck and you stop playing.

100
Very awesome game, couldn't ask for any better Burnout game for PSP. Stunning graphics as well as gameplay!

97
This game has some great gameplay, and is really fun to play. I won't have a huge drawn out review, but will basicly summarize the main points.

Main Game
There is a ton of stuff to do, and will take very long to do it. Very easy in the beginning to let you get used to it, but during the end, the pursuit mode gets so hard to me. Amazing sense of speed when close the end of the game, and you can go around 200 mph. I sometimes felt too fast and that made me reckless which resulted im me boosting straight into the bumper of an 18 wheeler.

Sound
I really like the music, but there is not much of a variety, just a lot of punk rock and rock. If works very well with the game.

Loading Times
The loading times are fine for me, and they at least give you something to read while you wait for the race.

Multiplayer
I have not tried real multiplayer, but I have game shared, and game-sharing takes FOREVER! I imagine a 4 player multiplayer to be awesome...Four cars racing side by side while ramming each other into the wall...

Playability
You can get into the game very quickly without much to do. Controls are simply, and all you have to do is smash into cars.

Warning
This game will most likely screw your habits with other racing games. The takedown of cars will become normal to you, and whenever you play something else, just watch yourself trying to ram into people with no avail. This happen to me when I was playing Ridge Racers, and got in last because I was boosting into the backs of cars expecting them to crash and burn, but instead, they got a tremendous speed boost.

Graphics
Pretty good graphics on the PSP. Mainly the reason that it is not as good as some games such as Ridge Racer is because the crashing and the takedowns take more memory on the UMD.

Overall
This is a great game, and everyone should have it. A little pricey at $50, but worth it.

93
I got this game when I first bought my PSP and I love it. If you have Burnout 3 on PS2 avoid this one as it is like a copy of it but with cars and tracks from Burnout 2 and 1. But it still is a brilliant game!

85
Pros
Very good graphics, long game with lot of different modes, fun arcade action.

Cons
This is really not a subtle game. You're not there to break lap records but to break your enemies. So it might be frustrating to those who (like me) enjoy practicing to make the "perfect lap". I prefer Ridge Racer's more classic touch.

94
One thing the PSP is not lacking in is driving games. There are a host of them available on this system already. Ridge Racer, Need For Speed Underground, Midnight club 3 to name a few, no we have Burnout Legends! This game has been a smash (no pun intended) hit on every platform that the game has graced so far. When I heard the PSP was getting a version of this game I wondered how well it would port to a portable. The answer is surprisingly well.

Hold onto your hats
For those of you who have not heard of the Burnout series before, I will give you a brief run down of the game. In Burnout, the aim of the game is to race. However there is a twist to this, you have to create as many wrecks as you can, so you road ragers out there will love this game. The bigger the wreck you create the more points you get. The more cars you get involved in the crash, the more points you get. To date there have been 3 Burnout games on various platforms, this brings us to Burnout Legends.

Burnout Legends is a mixture of all 3 previous Burnout games. The developers have taken the best parts of the other Burnout games and have put them into this PSP version. You will get the best cars from the series, the best tracks from the series and the best game play elements from the original series, just like Namco done with Ridge Racer. This however makes for one heck of a game.

This is unlike any other racing game
Burnout Legends is unlike any other racing game out there. There are many different modes in Burnout Legends ranging from single race mode to world tour. From the main menu you will see the following options. World Tour (where you will spend most of your time) Single Event and Multiplayer. Single Event lets you do various things like have a single race against the computer, time attack mode, which is where you just try to do a best lap on a track, road rage, in this mode the idea of the game is to wipeout as many cars as possible, and then there is pursuit mode. In Pursuit mode you take on the role of a cop and it is up to to chase down speeding cars. Multiplayer Mode allows you to play against you buddies on a wireless lan. This is great fun. Nothing quite like smashing you buddy into the on coming semi.

The main mode as I stated above is the world tour mode. This is where most of the action takes place, and it includes one of the best game modes ever created in any game. When you start the world tour you start out with only one category of cars (compact) this is a great way to break yourself into this game, the cars are easy to control and you get to familiarize yourself with the controls. Once you have selected the compact category you are presented with a map of the world. The races take place in various locations. Each location has different tasks set aside for you. Example you might pick a location and the task set aside might be a pursuit, or it might be a road rage event or it might just be a flat out race. Every time you complete and event and win a medal another challenge will open up in another location on the map. On most occasions when you complete and event you will you lock new tracks and new cars for you to destroy in what ever way you want. This mode will keep you busy for a long, long time.

The other mode in the World Tour option is the Crash Mode. This is without doubt one of the most entertaining game modes ever created. The idea of this mode is to cause as much destruction as possible from a single run. You will start out in a random location and the idea is to get to a certain intersection and crash, causing a massive wreck involving multiple vehicles. At the start of the even you will be given goals. What dollar amount of damage you need to win bronze, silver, or a gold medal. The crashes are truly stunning. Cars, Trucks, buses, semi's, trams and trains flying every which way, it is quite sadistic, but it is highly satisfying seeing the twisted metal of vehicles flying around the screen. All in all in the world tour mode there are 175 events for you to complete. This will take ages to get through, and there is plenty to keep you coming back for more and more.

Graphics
The PSP hasn't failed to impress me yet with it's graphical capabilities, and Burnout Legends continues that trend. While the graphics are not as crisp and clear as they are on the PS2 or XBOX they are still pretty good for a handheld. There are a few graphical glitches in and it gives me a feeling that the game might have been rushed just a little bit.

At times, bits of the road disappear into thin air as do parts of some vehicles, However I have to keep reminding myself that this is a handheld, the graphics are still pretty stunning. At times it can be a little hard to see the oncoming traffic until, oops, too late you are through the windshield of an 18 wheeler. However the more you play this the easier you will be able to see the tiny headlights of the oncoming cars.

One thing I was worried about when I heard this game was coming to PSP was how would the PSP handle the feeling of speed. The sense and feeling of speed you get while playing Burnout games is breathtaking, and I am happy to say that this has ported across nicely and the PSP handles this with ease. When you start playing the game you might not notice this as much but, when you get to the faster cars, the scenery zips by at an alarming rate, and there is now slow down during normal playing of the game which is great. The only time I ever noticed any slowdown is when you cause a big crash and there are cars flying everywhere, but even then the slowdown in minimal and does not affect the way the game plays.

Sound
EA have always have great soundtracks and this is no exception, including some big name bands. All of the tunes make you want to drive hard and fast. The sound effects are pretty good. One of the things that gives a sense of speed is when you pass vehicles on the road and get a whoosh of wind, little things like that add a lot to game play. All of the cars have their own unique sound. When you accelerate you can hear the gear changes and you can hear the whining of the turbo booster kicking in. When you crash, you hear all of the metal twisting as the cars are being destroyed. Very cool.

Controls
The controls on this game are very easy indeed, pretty much accelerate and brake. If you are playing the game properly you will not need the brake as the only time you should stop is when you hit a bus or truck head-on. X is accelerate, square is brake. The Right Shoulder button is your boost and the left shoulder button changes the camera angle. One new feature in this edition of Burnout is the after touch effect. When you crash if you hold down the right shoulder button you are able to control the direction your car flies off in when you crash. By controlling where you car flies and lands can involve more cars in the wreck, and as you know, the more cars involved the more points you score, so you really need to learn the after touch techniques.

Overall
This is a must have for anybody who owns a PSP. It is such a unique racing experience and is so much fun. I guarantee you will not be able to put this game down for quite some time. It has everything its bigger brothers have on the PS2 and XBOX. This is a fun game with a unique twist on the racing genre. Go out and get it now.

93
This game combines racing with a litte "destructive" fun, if you could call it that, anyway, I think this game is pretty cool. The overall gameplay is great, graphics are awesome, and the soundtrack is not too shabby.

91
Glad I had a screen protector, otherwise the drool could have shorted out the PSP. I love the big brothers of this game. They are wonderful. The graphics are, IMHO, comperable to the PS2 versions of Burnout and Burnout 2. Burnout 3 and Revenge did surpass though.

It is really a port/remix of the previous versions. Even though it came out at the same time as Burnout Revenge, none of the new features from it are included. This means, unfortunately, that there is no "traffic checking" and you can easily destroy your car if you switch back and forth between the games.

Pros:
• The graphics are close to the best the system has, I think.
• The game play is easy to pick up but with a stedaly increasing difficulty. (My 50 year old father got into it in 10 minutes.)
• The AI is decently aggressive.
• The music selection is GREAT, if it is to your taste. If you had the basic 32 meg memory card, you could fire this up and listen to the music for a while.

Cons:
• The graphic demand means that load times are high. Though that appears to be the PSP standard.
• Streaming music + UMD = Dead Battery. Turn off the music if you will be out of charge range for a while. With the UMD spinning continuiously, it is tough on batteries.
• Occasionally, the game will hit a load hiccup during a race and cause the system to freze for a second. This can lose a race for you easily.

80
I thought this would be like Revenge, which they compleatly screwed up, but it's not. It's one of the top 3 Burnout games out there, the crashes are good and the new pursuit is interesting but a lot like face-off. I couldn't unlock everything but I like it overall. A good selection of cars, some nice signature takedowns and flying through the air and driving on 2 wheels was fun. However, burning laps are as challaeging as ever, so that's something I never did like about any of the Burnouts. Overall it's solid, nice graphics, nice game.

96
I have to say, that this game has outdone itself. Me and my family have multiplayer games all of the time with this.

The graphics are brilliant on the small screen, and the sound is great - my favourite song on the game is Red Flag, I always put on this track. There are also many cars to win and to choose from while racing. A let down is the fact, that the connection speeds can be slow and glitchy - I had to contact EA when the game kept failing, but it's fine now.

Overall, this game is a perfect PSP game, it supplies hours - even days of fun!

93
This is by far the bestest racing game on the PSP. The graphics are amazing and looks like the console version. Though usually there are a few glitches but it really doesn't matter. The music isn't all that great but still good. There is lots to do which I think is great. Overall, anyone with a PSP should buy it.

47
Burnout 3:Takedown was the best racing game of 2004, for X-Box, and PS2. Now the best game of 2004, becomes the best game of 2005 on the PSP. With awesome graphics and great gameplay, this is really a very good choice if you love racing. All modes of gameplay are back, but the best for me was Road Rage, and surprisingly it is better than the crash modes which slack off a bit. Overall this game is awesome, but it could have been better, if EA would throw in an online mode.

87
This game is just like the game on Xbox but it's a little more simple and smaller. I love the street rage and the crash game. And that is basicly it. just to race around is ok but to crush the other racers and to blow up a whole street of cars is amasing. Love it.

A great cargame but if your looking for just racing. Try something that is more focused on that. This is 100% fun at crushing and exploding!

96
Burnout is the best game out for the PSP you need a copy.

90
I recommend it to anyone who likes driving games.

90
Graphics - 95
The graphics are sick. In my opinion they can be compared with Ridge Racer. The whole game is pretty much concentrated on slow motion crashing. All effects are awesome, such as slicing cars in half or driving into a gas truck

Sound - 85
The sound effects of the engine can sometimes be annoying, as they are too loud, and you kind of loose the original sound. All other effects are great. The soundtrack can be reccomended only for those who really like punk music, all the tracks are full of adrenaline.

Gameplay - 95
The whole concept of the game is destroying vehicles in sick ways. There is a lot of re-playability, so I don't believe anyone would get bored too fast from this game. There are 8 game modes for every interest. There are a ton of cars, magazines, postcards, levels and occasions to be unlocked. This game is probably the fastest racing game after wipeout.

Load times - 85
Well, I haven't played Midnight club, but the load times here are really too long. probably 30 sec. which is really annoying. For those who have played MC this probably won't represent a problem. But don't worry, you'll get used to them soon enough

Multiplayer - 80
This game includes game sharing which I often use with my brother. Just one thing sucks - the upload. It takes 5 minutes to upload it to another PSP, and another 1 minute to start the game. There is only one game mode in game sharing - race (from the 8 modes available).
I haven't noticed any lag yet.

Overall - 90
I reccomend this game to anyone who is lookng forward to a different racing game. It is pumped with action and high speed crashes.

88
This is where the review talks about the game and such, but let's just get to it.

Graphics - 100
Extremely well done. The crash models and particle effects for the crashbreaker are very well done. Go them.

Gameplay - 90
My one main problem with the gameplay, is that it can get very repetative. One 2 minute race after another, it gets tiring. Also, when hitting a truck or bus full on, you sometimes literally fly out of the map or enter what we call "Blue Hell".

Sound - 90
Crashes, loud. Music, loud. Sounds when making slelections, loud. Loud good.

Re-playability - 40
There's not much as for mini-games, or extra features. But there ARE a whole MESS of cars to unlock.

Multiplayer - 100
The multiplayer is crazy, sometimes...too crazy.

Overall - 90
If you're a fan of the Burnout series, get this game. It will not dissapoint. If you're not, well, try this game. If you don't like driving games, why are you reading this review? Get out.

99
I can never get bored! Played it 5 hours straight and was still amused at the awesome gameplay!a must get!

82
Gameplay - 83
I bought this game because of all the hype surrounding it. Everyone said it would be “the” game for the PSP. It’s good, but it’s not “the” game. This is a fun game where you knock out your opponent and watch slow motion devastation of their (or yours, if they get you) car. You can pick it up and start playing in no time. The control is spot on having the car respond exactly as it should. Drifting around corners, weaving in and out of traffic. The game is very fun to play.

I found it is a bit repetitious. The races aren’t that varied. Tracks seem to be reused a bit as you progress, or at least portions of them. But the actual gameplay and the different environmental variables (traffic) make each race more or less a unique experience.

This game is very arcade-like. It dictates which cars you can race on which tracks. Sometimes you have a few to pick from; sometimes you are playing a car to unlock or the police racer. I have no idea if cars in a particular class are better than any of the others. From what I can tell they all seem to drive the same. Maybe I’m wrong, but I sure didn’t notice any differences. There is no customization you can do to your cars other than change the color up a bit on a few cars (Is it white with black, red, or blue trim?). Vaguely reminds me of the style of Cruzin’ the USA, or Rush.

Graphics - 81
Graphics looks good. The could look better, but there are no real issues with them. The effects are nice such as sparks from grinding metal and the sense of speed. But for a game this early in the systems life span they graphics are very good but I expect them to slip beneath par as time progresses.

Programming - 84
The game is written well. Fast load times make it easy to grab it and start racing. Sometimes you see some jitter in polygons, usually noticeable in the bullet-time crashes. Sometimes in pursuit if you are ahead of your opponent, they will crash on their own, not receiving any damage, and you will have a small cut scene to wait for them to catch up. The blur effects could be a bit more pronounced. It could be PSP architecture that makes those tough, but I think that’s missing a bit. But more ore less there aren’t any flaws that take away from game play, maybe some minor annoyances.

Multiplayer
I have not experienced game sharing or multiplayer in any aspect. There are collector editions of each class of car that you unlock in the game. When you win whichever race to get it, you are awarded 1 of 4 (or maybe 5) cars randomly. To unlock the other cars you must race someone who has one and beat them. This is kind of a neat feature, but also a but dissatisfying as you may never unlock them all if you don’t know many people with a PSP.

Sound FX - 90
Things sound like they should. I have not noticed any annoyingly repetitious sounds. Crashes are good. The engines of the different cars produce distinctive sounds so you can hear the headers on your muscle car vs the high hum of your compact tuner. Sounds just like you would want a racer.

Music - 45
I listen to a lot of different genres of music but I don’t listen to pop/punk music. There for I did not recognize any tracks nor did I enjoy them. You can turn tracks on and off so if you hate a couple, you don’t have to listen to that particular track. It would have been simple to add more genres with the same functionality, or at least pick the type of music similar to Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition.

Load Times - 95
Load times are great. The progress bar just zips up and you are in the game. Shortly after you have a race loaded and are about to hit the gas. I didn’t time it, but I would estimate maybe 15 seconds more or less for a race. Completely unnoticeable if you’ve been playing Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition.

Replay - 80
You can win races and progress through the game unlocking cars. You can race each race over till you get a gold. Unfortunately, the gold isn’t that tough to get and having the game for only a weekend I am expecting to get all the golds in a week or two depending how much I feel like playing. Once that’s all done, I don’t really know what else there would be to do except just replay old races or try to find some multiplayer action.

Overall - 81
It’s a fun game. I enjoy it. I just don’t know how long it will keep me occupied. It may be a better rental than purchase depending how good your driving skills are. If you have friends with it, the multiplayer will probably be a good reason to add it to your library.

Authors note:
Personally I prefer Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition over this game even despite the load times. I prefer the car customization and I think the races are better. If gives a better feeling of realism to racing while sticking to the arcade play style. That being said I still enjoy Burnout, I’ll just be going back to the other game after I beat this one in about a week.

80
Since much of other reviews already run the gambit of awesome to spectacular, I will look at it from a different angle. My review title says it all -- Burnout Legends is really Burnout 3 with some solid changes. But if you have played Burnout 3 you will easily see what I am saying once you play Legends.

Legends has a majority of the same levels that BO3 has. But the exception is that Legends brings back some levels from Burnout 2. Some notable ones being "Terminal 1 & 2" and "Terminal 3". These classic levels have been redone slightly for the PSP. Other levels have also been redone to address some subtle flaws or to just address the PSP. One such notable change would be in the Lakeside coarse. Just ass you come off the dirt portion of the coarse in the FWD game mode you may notice that the car park is now missing and a green hill is there.

Many of the levels have been reworked in this simple way. But these changes do not deter from the overall gameplay. Also gone are the Crash Multiplayers. No longer will you maneuver vainly to hit that 4x and to avoid the heart breaker from BO3. This has facilitated the reworking of the cash amounts, but so far I have not found any of these changes as detrimental.

The final change that I would like to note is that of the cars. The cars have been turned and each type has different abilities. I did not notice this too heavily in Burnout 3. But gone is a listing of the cars stats and so you will need to drive each one to know just what they will do. Also looking towards what I have heard of Revenge, Legends keeps in line by having cars you can only unlock through multiplayer competition. These challenge cars are given one at a time. To start you get one in each class when you win a specific race. But there are 4 more to get in each class. This means having a friend with a PSP, and $50 for BOL. Something that may annoy the more obsessive players out there.

All in all the game is quite good for a portable title. And short of it being what could be considered a revision to BO3, it can hold it's own when you're on a plane or the road. So it is a good buy if you're a fan of the series and have the $50 to spend. I would suggest this as a good one for your starving collection.

88
Gameplay - 90
Easy to jump in and get revved up! Fun races, eliminator options, menacing extreme car crashes, car collecting (Real stakes--you can challenge a friend with that hot rod you've put effort on winning on during wireless matches with friends. If they beat you, they get your car and its bye-bye hot rod!). Go through a world circuit for different racing and eliminator races. Good controls, although it can be awkward to hit reverse quickly in heated races. A bit different tactics from the current Burnout Revenge. In Burnout Revenge on the Xboxx and PS2, you can hit cars you are behind of. In this version, you will crash. Don't know why Electronic Arts didn't apply the same rules on the handheld. If you have this on one of the platforms and play it on your PSP, you wil see what I mean. The manual is about 6 pages long, so this is a quick game to jump into. You'll obsess over car collecting, signature photos shots, trophies, and getting all the golds!

Graphics - 95
Very slick car reflections, gritty looking tracks, screeching sparks, fun slow motion aftertouches (when you steer your car into other cars after you crash in bullet time).

Programming - 80
There are occasional annoyances here. Mainly Polygon Popping. This ussually happens on the still screens, when the actions slows down or stops. This is my only major gripe with Burnout Legends. After a crash, you may see the contcrete polygons jittering or moving like a blob, back and forth. In pursuit games, sometimes the car you are pursuing gets stuck on some alternate course that leaves you "suspended" a bit in a camera mode. Polygon popping happens (you can see through the floors or some objects occasionally. Reflections are nice, blur effect may seem a bit grainier than the smoother burs you are used to from the console versions.

Multiplayer - 85
You can share Burnout Revenge with a friend that does not have it. This doesn't have an online mode like twisted metal. Ad-Hoc mode only. Would have been fun. Up to six players.

Sound FX - 90
Nice reving up. Car honks, sirens, screeches and signature explosions! What you'd expect. But I am especially excited at wheat is not present - the annoying DJ dude from Burnout 3.

Music - 88
Nice tracks to get your adrenalin pumped. Some are cheesier than others, but overall, a nice selection of punk pop.

Loadtimes - 87
Loads fairly fast. The reply of course causes a little reload time. Doesn't have the problem like Ridge Racer when you pause the game and go back in, the music is no longer loaded.

Replay - 95
Lots of perfection needed to unlock all the car and rewards. So many rewards to unlock.

Player's tilt/Overall - 88
I love this series. Easy to get into, easy to learn. Hard to master. Fast and furious fun! Polygon glitches can be a minor annoyance.

Imagine that all the past burnout games at full speed hitting speed up tokens smashed into a blood curdling wreck, then imagine that someone welded back together all of the chunks of mangled levels, vehicles, and game modes. This formes Burnout legends on PSP

Even on a handhed burnout is the same if not better high-octane entertainment. Especialy with up to eight players all smashing into each other shaving 200 mph how could you ever get bored?

Burnout Legends seems as good as if not better than all the burnouts its made from

I was hesitant at first to buy Burnout Legends because I already own 2 racing games on PSP (wipeout,RR). But now I don't regret my decision. It is my favorite racing game on PSP.

First of all the UMD is jam packed with the best game modes from the Burnout series(hence the name Legends). There is the addicting crash mode, pursuit, road rage(very fun), and single race.

In addition there is also a world tour mode which is the meat of the game. More game modes are mixed in and the tour mode rewards new tracks, cars, medals etc. The tour mode doesn't run as seamless as it should but nevertheless it is better than the repetive tour mode in Ridge Racer (sry RR fans).

My only problem with the game is with the somewhat long load times which aren't ridiculously long, some graphic problems in crash mode i.e. Tires rolling in mid-air, street tearing. Also noticable jaggies. But the intense and fun gameplay more than makes up for the minor graphical problems.

Great looking game, fun and addicting. My favorite game(besides luminus) on PSP out of all the games. If you have a brain and money definatly pick this one up!

Burnout 3 was fun and entertaining. But burnout ledgends takes it one step further, but mobily! all the fun of the console burnout 3, except on the PSP!

Summary
I'm having a freaking blast with this one. Go get it now.

Gameplay - 90
Although it took me a cool hour to really get into it, this game rocks. I had never played any Burnout games before and had kinda dismissed them as silly. I was way wrong. As soon as I got over thinking of it as a racer so much and settled on it being a little more like Mario Kart (or the immortal Snowboard Kids), I ended up falling in love.

You basically pick a car and do one of three things:
• You race against others to the finish.
• You (as a cop) pursue a fugitive and stop him (by smashing into him).
• You smash into as many things as possible to create glorious slo-mo pile-ups.

No matter what you're doing, however, you need to drive fast, disobey all traffic laws and wreck things. YAY!!!

Technology - 90
Graphically, this game is a beauty. The music and Sound FX are great and its a blast. It would be nice to be able to supply my own tunes, but soon enough I imagine.

My only complaint is that there are moments when the game seems like it pauses for the system to "catch up" with what's going on. It won't cause any unwanted crashes (not that there would be any in this game) or anything, but it does kinda stick out like a sore thumb.

Value - 85
$50 is a lot of cash for a portable game. EA needs to quit being so damn greedy and just charge the same as the rest (which is still too damn high!). I don't feel cheated, however, with this one. I see lots and lots of time spent on it in the future.

This game is the best game I have gotten for the PSP.

Pros
• Good load times.
• Great graphics.
• The crashes are flippin sweet.
• Doesnt get old.
• Fun ad hoc.
• Keeps you tied over for GTA and Infected.

Cons
• If you stop stearing your car, graphics get a bit blocky.
• No infrastructure.
• Hard to take out cars when going 200 mph+.
• No more cons great game worth the money!!!!

Definitely a great game that would be a great addition to any collection. As far as a PSP game is concerned it has a lot going for it. The single player mode is expansive and indulging(many Burnout 3 gamers will remember many tracks in the lineup). The multiplayer modes are equally rewarding, especially with the incentive of unlockable Legend cars. In comparing it to the Burnout series, well this game is just a remix of the best with a little trimmed off with hardware limitations in mind. The addition of the Burnout 1 and 2 cars are appreciated and proper respects are given to the great 3. The crash modes are nice, while not being quite as spectacular as the console they are still satisfying. The graphics are doses of PSP eyecandy doing the series justice, and the controls are decently responsive. The only thing I can think of adding to this game would be the option of custom soundtracks. Oh the game sharing is unique but nothing too special. Overall, this game is easily one of the top releases out giving gamers the most bang for their burn.

92
It's fun, addictive and a little glithchy. Cars go through walls and sometimes you crash for no apparent reason. But, that's not giving the game any credit. Road rage is the best mode in the game and the second is crash mode. The controls are fine but they don't feel as grood as holding a console controller but they'll have to do. The graphics are unbelivable, I was pleasently surprised. The sound is the big problem for me in this game. The songs get really repetitive because there are only 21 songs, and all the cars sound the same. But this is a great game and it's definetly a game to pick-up for your PSP.

Summary
This game is awesome. Dazzling graphics (even my mom liked them), fun gameplay, and addictive (but not unhealthily). This is the racing game to get.

Gameplay - 90
This game is really fun. The menu screen has: World Tour, Single event, Multiplayer, and Driver details. World tour takes you around the map, doing Races, Pursuits, Road Rages, and Face-offs. Then, the other part of the tour is creating chaotic crashes. I could go on and on about all the Stuff. There are 5 car classes, compact, muscle, coupe, sport, and super. The rest is pretty basic.

You are a car, where the objective is to drive aggresively. You get burnout points (which allow you to use a speed boost) by doing stuff live bashing up other cars, driving into oncomig traffic, etc. When you crash, you'll lose part of your speedboost meter, but you'll be able to hold are and choose where to land your car. There is some spectacular car violence in this game (if you're a bad driver, go buy a differnt game).

Technology - 100
The effects look really great on the screen, and you can show it off to DSers because Burnout Legends is coming out for them too (it looks really bad, in terms of graphics). The whole time you're playing, rock music will be pumping out of the speakers, and by good bands, too. The graphics are far superior to PS1, and are pretty close to PS2-quality. I'm not that far, but the AI seems approriate for me, a moderatly skilled racer. In Pursuit Mode, the CPU is pretty smart.

Value - 80
Great game, but $50?! What I Loved is the Road Rage. You get to try to take down as many cars as possible. Enough said! What I really didn't like is the pursuit mode where yyou chase down a guy and try to smash up his car. But it's only a matter of opinion, you may like it. The downfall of this game is that there are lots of other racing games out there for PSP. Seems like an old concept now.

96
Time to ebay Wipeout Pure, baby, this one is a keeper!

Graphics - 90
Not as good looking as the PS2 vers, but still b e a uuutiful.

Sound - 80
Typical EA games soundtrack. Game sounds are good, ESPECIALLY the heartbeat you hear if you slow down during a crash (you'll know what I mean). Some of the engine sounds get a little annoying, and it's annoying to drive the cop car because the siren is always on.

Physics - 100
The only racing game where I don't really feel bad when I wreck because it is so awesome to see the ways it crashes.

Fun - 100
I sat in the parkinglot of Blockbuster and played for an hour it's so fun. Not a game like Wipeout or Metal Gear Acid where you have to talk yourself into palying sometimes.

BOTTOM LINE: Buy it. It's a game that makes you want to buy the system just to play.

93
With the abundance of PSP racing games out for Sony's little gem, it's difficult for a title to try and distinguish itself from the pack. Well, EA's latest offering does just that, and may very well have taken the crown altogether. Burnout: Legends, the title made famous on consoles has made its way onto the smaller screen and the first word's that come to mind are; FAST, INTENSE, FANTASTIC. This game is the Hotshot's Golf of racing games, and if you've read my review of that game, you'll know that's a huge compliment.

Upon first booting up the game and viewing the intense intro movies your fingers itch to get this baby underway. Yes, there are the usual exhibition races and options settings, but the meat of this baby is in the tournament mode. That's the mode you'll be playing the most. The tournament mode consists of circuits played around the globe. Each tournament also has different classes. Clear the Compact Tournament and you move onto, Muscle, Coupe, Sport and Super. Every race has different unlockable sections and scenarios as well. I'm not done yet. Every tournament has Crash Tournaments as well consisting of different scenarios, so if you think this game is big, it is. 175 Events. 89 Unlockable cars, ranging from, Police Cars, Hot Rods, Fire Trucks, Ferrari Lookalikes, etc. I hope it doesn't sound confusing. It's really quite simple, and the simplicity of this game is what makes it so addcitive.

So you enter your first race and the first thing you notice is, this game is fast. Forget about every other racing game on the PSP, I'm serious. This baby rocks. The graphics, while not as beautiful as Wipeout Pure, are still extremely well done. There's just so much going on. Every car is destructible, and there are tons of effects going on like flash sparks and your car getting mashed up in the process. Did I mention it's intense and fast?

The first race is a standard race, you know, beat the other guys. Then the fun begins. As you race, you acquire nitro through near misses with other cars or actually taking cars out. The X button is gas, the Square button is brake. The Triangle button switches between 2 different views, an on the road view and a behind the car view. This brings me to my first little gripe, I wish there was a few more camera angles; sometimes its hard to see whats coming up, but this is a very minor gripe. Circle button is your horn or Siren (for police cars) and then you have the fabulous are shoulder button. This button slows down time after big crashes and they look oh so damn good. Think of it as bullet time, but for cars, and you get the idea.

Later scenarios actually encourage crashes. Some range from a certain amount of cars you can smash up. Other races have you taking out cars while blazing at insane speeds with Nitros, and weaving through traffic. It does all of this so fluidly and so fast that it just oozes fun and addcition. The crash scenarios get to be so intense that sometimes you'll want to play them over and over just for the fun of it (and also for the beautiful devastation). There are also Trophies you can win along the way, for example; say you're in a crashing scenario and you need to take out a certain amount of rivals for a gold medal, well depending upon how you take them out, you're awarded with trophie takedown. Smash an opponent onto oncoming oil tankers and watch them blow. Grind them into side barriers and watch them spin into the air. Remember, this is all going on while blazing at insane speeds and every takedown is shown in slow motion. Beautiful.

What more can I say, I could go on and on. I can't put this game down, it's that much fun. EA has done a fantastic job. Sometimes a game come's out that's so much fun that you want to keep playing and playing. This is one of them. It's the best racing game on PSP period. It's a pickup and play game. Even if you're short on time you can start this baby up and play a few 5 minute rounds and shut it off. It's a long game that will keep you playing for weeks, with tons of replayability and short load times. Even the music consisting of EA Trax, Rock tunes etc. fits the game perfectly. Do yourself a favour and pick up this baby when it's out, but if your driving to your local store, please buckle up.

95
If you enjoyed the Burnout series for the PS2 or Xbox, you'll love burnout legends. If your familiar with the series, there is no need for an introduction, all of the take downs, crash challenges and Burnout race goodness shrunk down and packed into the PSP. The graphics, although not as detailed as the console versions, Burnout legends holds it's own just fine. A MUST buy for racing/burnout fans.

99
I just recently purcharesed Burnout Legends for my PSP and it's one game I don't think you can hate or get bored of. I has many different modes to suit the destructive or high paced fast racing gamer with 170+ levels and 89 unlockable cars. It will keep you playing until you cut your thumb open from using the analog stick for hours on end. I have 18 hours of playtime so far and I am only 67% done with the game. It's great and uses the PSP to its fullest. I recomend this game. The one gripe I have is the slight lag for 10 seconds after taking it out of sleep mode.

97
Playability
This game is great to play either in short spurts, or in long hauls on road trips! You're in and out of races in 4 minutes or less and load times range between 5 and 15 seconds (Rockstar take note!) The tracks are very forgiving at going 200 mph and smacking into rails to make the sharp turn. The races that range between the classes of cars are pretty much the same but, as the cars get faster and the AI gets a little harder each time, sometimes it might take you 2 or 3 times to complete a race or event instead of blowing through like the Tuner class.

Graphics
Really nice! Frame rate some what slows down with major crashes and becomes a little pixelated at times but that can be expected when all four cars plow into a semi and Aftertouch into a bus! It is a little hard at first getting used to seeing the enviroment fly by and paying attention to traffic at the same time, but you get used to it after five or so races. The crash effect graphics are supreme and still very much cool to watch!

Sound
A mixture of older EA "trax" from other Burnout and EA games, but it stays with the tempo of the race. Sometimes, a slight stoppage does occur when changing tracks but most times it never costs a race. I hate the high pitch revs of some cars but, nothing is perfect...

Overall Value
This game is a must buy for not just racing fans but fans of the PSP! Even if you don't like racing games, crashing is fun for everyone and this game does it better then any competition! The inclusion of the Pursuit Event with Road Rage and Crash Events adds depth to the already deep amount of things to do. Multi-player infrastructure would push it the Rating to 99 but I guess we have to wait for that...Aftertouch is done nicely but sometimes you find yourself yelling at your screen looking for different camera angles to smash into your opponents. Overall, this game will be a classic on the PSP and once again, EA comes through with a great game! Nicely Done!

97
Wow. They made it almost perfect. Almost because it has a few framerate problems now and then, and whats up with no car stats? Anyway, this is by far the best racer for the PSP

75
This game adopts a huge amout of gameplay from Burnout 3 (as well as most of the tracks and cars). So if you have played Burnout 3, you wont find anything new here. Not that this is a bad thing at all.

The only problem I saw in Burnout Legends, is the graphics. They are good, but nowhere near as polished as they could be. In comparison my other game Fired Up seems to have better graphics than Burnout Legends.

Summary: Burnout 3 with some new cars and courses but with crappier graphics

99
I picked this up last night. I didn't go to bed, my wife is going to divorce me by the end of this week. I can't imagine them doing this game better than they did. I honestly tried to find something to criticize and could not find anything. The game feels fast, the crashes are beautiful and descriptive, the levels are wonderful.

Hell, even the LOAD TIMES are decent. Especially compared to Midnight Club. I wish there were no load times but alas, thats the curse of UMD's. But they're not bad at all considering how advanced this game is.

WOW is all I can say. I wanted to call into work sick today to play more but I'll end up getting divorced and fired. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TREAT YOURSELF TO THIS GAME. We can only hope more PSP games like this get pumped out soon. This game made up for all the other crappy ones we've seen.

98
This game is killer. I have never played any of the Burnout games but now I'm sorry that I haven't. This game is so unreal I can barely put it down to write this review. The cars look and feel real and the speed reminds me of Auto Modelista. You earn boost by crashing into other cars and in the crash mode you can create these unreal crashes and then explode you car to add insult to injury. I haven't checked out the multiplayer yet. The only bad thing that I could say about the game so far are the load times. I timed it 3 times and it averages about 45 secounds, a little shorter in crash mode. This is a definitely a game to buy, don't rent unless you have an option to buy because you will want this one for you collection.

100
Amazing, what else am I supposed to say? This game is a reason to get the PSP alone!

WOW
97
This is indeed the best racer for PSP right now. Good framerate and wonderful speed through races. Amazing detail in such a little disc. Would recommend it to everyone. The only thing I don't really like is that all the cars are made up, I wish that Criterion would get some of the licenses to use their cars such as Honda/Acura, Toyota, Subaru, Mazda, etc. But overall this game is awesome and if you like any racing game, you should def pick this nasty game up.
