This game totally rocks. I got it for my and PS2 and I never get bored of it. I recommend getting it for the PSP, it is totally better than the ones before and it has way better graphics.

Best game for the PSP I've tried so far.

This was the first game I played on my PSP. So far it still lives to be my favorite. The loading times aren't as bad as they say they are, you just have to be patient enough to load.

Since I have been playing Madden I have been dying for it to become portable so I could play it everywhere that I went. Now With the release of the Madden 06 for the PSP I can do that and play one of the best games that I have played on the PSP.

To start off, game loading is the first problem that I saw with the game which , at first, made me thing there was something wrong the game but as I read reviews, it seemed to be normal. All this pausing does cut in to your battery life which kind of stinks cause you only get 2 game in before you have to charge it again.

Graphics are good but not great, then again you are playing it on a smaller screen that you are used to playing so in that sense there are pretty good. Another disappointment would be that it doesnt have instant replay, or a challenge play option, but I think I can live without that.

The controls are great to me. Seems like you are playing it right on the regular PS2 except for the extra two buttons you have on the PS2. The players react as well as the PS2 does when juking and manuvering the player in whichever way you would like then to go.Sound is also not that bad considering that you are playing on a small console. In the headphones, I thought it sounded great. NOt much to say about that.

In conclusion, the game seems to be the best game for the PSP available out now, in the sports category. Before you know it you will not even remember about the pausing in the game cause it is that fun.I think that they outdid themselves considering it is the first version.Good for those big sports fans that are usually on the road and wish they were home playing madden on there regular console.

Game load times are not great. I have another game called MLB and you can play a game as if you would expect a baseball game to play out with the expected pauses at the end of the innings. Madden has pauses for nearly everything you do. This is very annoying, not to mention it cuts into your battery a lot. I think this is the biggest drawback of this game. With that said, it does carry a lot of information in regards to player stats, standings and team stats. And you can play 30 years with your franchise as well as the simuluations it runs with other teams.

Graphics are not so great. Somewhat choppy and there are no replays which is too bad. Maybe as good as 2003 Madden on the PS2 minus the replays. But tell me a better football game that has current market game console graphics and I will be stopping at the store to get that one. There is none, period. In regards to replays, for this version, I am glad they don't have it due to the load times I mentioned above.

Sound is good, not great. I'm using the standard PSP headphones, and maybe there is something else that enhances the sound, but the sound seems good enough for me. Game controls are also good. Some of the controls that you would have in the console are not in the PSP, but I don't miss it that much.

Game play is awesome, it feels like you are playing the console game after some time. You start getting into it and the simulations are also good. I have played previous versions of Madden, but the new features of updating your player ratings are great and the new mini training games are also great. Franchise mode is awesome. Features I have not tried and may be some time before I try are wireless gaming and taking a team within my PS2 on the road with my PSP. I would like to try these out, but I have not yet.

In summary, this game is great, even with the bad that it possesses because there is nothing else like it. Who knows when there will be something better. If you like Madden because of the franchise mode and developing your players then this will help you kill those boring hours.

I think this game was RUSHED. It doesn't have keep options such as instant reply and challenge. It would nice if you could actually see if you did step out of bounds on a play but you can't b/c it's not an option.
One thing I do like is all the different mini camp games that you can play online. In all in all I give this game a 7. Not too good and not too bad.

This game is by far the worst EA game since Catwoman.

Pros: Close to console game.
Cons: Freezes up alot, infrastructure blows, blocky graphics, I would actually rather play it on DS!

This Game is the reason I bought a PSP.

General Thoughts
This game looks and sounds great on the PSP. Just the ability to play Madden on the go is fantastic. Then you throw in the ability to go online and play others and you have a classic. Oh yeah and the minigames. Don't forget the great minigames.

Gameplay
It's fun! Even though it lags in areas and the announcers' calls are a few seconds behind the action, I still love it.

Controls
It takes maybe fifteen minutes to get used to these controls. I highly suggest the minigames to get them down correctly. The kicking situation may take a little longer. I'm just now getting the hang of it.

Graphics
They looks great. I'd have to agree with most though. It's somewhere in between PS1 and PS2 looks wise. On the PSP and for a portable, there's nothing out there like it.

Sound
Yes, the announcers are annoying just like normal. The game sounds are minimal, but sufficient. The music is kick butt. EA takes that stuff way seriously.

Replayability
It's pretty much endless, well until Madden 2007 comes out that is.

IT is AMAZING. The online is Great. The only flaws are no instant replay and so Challenge. But it makes uo for that woth great graphics and Playation 2 Link

The first Madden game for the PSP is a solid effort. For a handheld, the graphics are good, but not near ps2 quality. Playing on zoom mode helps make them stand out a little bit more. The sound is the same old drivel from the madden/michaels announcing team. Many people have commented on the long load times esp. when signing free agents in the offseason, but I thought the ps2 version had the same problem. The hook for me has always been the smooth gameplay. That has carried over with no problem. It's easier to run the ball, but that makes it more fun for me. Sometimes, the game powers the PSP down for no apparent reason. FRUSTRATING!@!!!!!!!!

The bottom line is if you are a patient person, I would recommend it but if you are just a cursory nfl fan, I woud wait for a more bug-free version

This is a great game, plays extremely well in the PSP and is almost full featured (even with a franchise mode which is great - you can even share your PS2 franchise and play it on the go!!!!). Great mini-games as well.

The system has shut down on me three times while playing franchise mode. The first time was right when my guy hit the end zone. It just froze up and the whole system turned off. I thought maybe my battery was low, but that wasn't the case. Because I didn't save my game, I had to go through the whole pre-season again, which takes about 10 minutes. The second time, I got through the first game, but after the second game, where it says "End Game" it froze up again and the system turned off again! During my third try, the same thing afater I finished my first game. What the hell. This has never happened before with any other games.

It's a great game. You can have a fantasy draft on franchise but in online you're never able to finish a game. Other than that incredible game with incredible graphics. No replay. If it had good online it would be a 99.

My only complaints are:

• The apparent 'glitch' where the game abruptly freezes when you intercept the football or score a touchdown.

• I guess I am new to the whole EA Sports online way of doing things- you have to pay to play online?!?!? Even though the first PSP NBA game sux, at least it plays online for free!!!
