Maybe it is because I am a huge Resident Evil fan, but I did enjoy this movie quiet a bit. This one I feel is much more true to the games.

The main villain/monster is Nemesis from the 3rd game (aptly named Resident Evil 3: Nemsis). At one point in the movie he is shooting at S.T.A.R.S (Special Tactics and Resue Squad/Service) members and as he is doing this he bellows "S.T.A.R.S." I was very happy to see this tidbit included. Towards the end there is a scene where Alice (the heroine) is outrunning helicopter fire, this is a scene taken almost exactly from Resident Evil: Code Veronica (X) and was a great little homage to that amazing game. At the end (SPOILER) Racoon City is nuked by Umbrella to cover their tracks. This again was another homage to the games. Finally, a main character was also from the Resident Evil games (1 and 3) Jill Valentine.

Overall this is a great movie for people who like the games, but probably not for people who just like zombie movies.

It was what it was, a fun popcorn flick. Transfer to UMD was good, menus look cool. Sound is great. Quite obviously shot in Toronto so there's another bonus for me.

It was worth the price I paid (free gift from a friend).

Only buy if you know you'll like it though. This is not one of those "everybody will like it" movies like Pirates of the Caribbean is.

I admit, I am a sucker for UMD video. I love the fact that I can have it anytime and anywhere in great quality. So naturally, one would think that they'd release, well, GOOD movies. With the exception of a few gems (other reviews, people, sorry. :-P), its a pretty dull lineup.

Among these dismal titles, is one of my least-favorites, and that would be the 2nd (not first, 2nd) "Resident Evil" flick. While it's a UMD video, which is just amazing (told you I was a sucker), it's a horrible title to put out and I haven't the slightest idea who decided to make it into a UMD video.

Please spare yourself 90 minutes of fake blood and just buy Kill Bill. This is an awful movie and should be spared from your eyes.

The sequel is 'decent', but I really only bought it to pass time while I wait for my other movies to arrive [note: don't buy online unless you are a truly PATIENT person]...

Anyway- the picture/sound quality are more than adequate. My only gripe is the movie itself, but- hey- I am the dumbass that bought it!
