I haven't watched this movie yet, but one thing worth mentioning is the movies selections of sub-titles. Most if not all DVD/UMD movies I've purchased in the past only give you three (usually two) sub-title options, spanish, english, or french. Once Upon a time in mexico gives you SIX sub-title options. English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, and Thai.

The final film in the El Mariachi trilogy isn't quite as impressive or memorable as Desperado, but that's really the only crime it commits; not being as good as the best. Alright, so it has a couple other flaws -- Agent Sands (Johnny Depp) steals the movie and El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas) is reduced to an almost seconadry character in his own trilogy, and the plot is unnecessarily convoluted and harder to understand than Mission: Impossible's. Still, it's got a superb cast, it's a great action flick overflowing with Robert Rodriguez's trademark style, and it's a very worthy entry in the series and a good way to end it.
The biggest flaws concern not the movie, but the UMD's lack of extras and scene selection. The lack of extras cannot be blamed on a lack of available space on the UMD -- Kill Bill: Volume 1 has a running time of 111 minutes and the UMD Video manages to include a 20-minute making-of video and two music videos, but Once Upon a Time in Mexico has a 102-minute running time and the UMD doesn't even include the nine-minute making-of video found on the DVD. However, this isn't even half as infuriating as the lack of scene selection. It's absolutely inexcusable. Tapping the R button for five minutes is not an acceptable way of skipping to a scene later in the movie.
If you're not a huge fan of Robert Rodriguez, you may want to wait -- From Dusk Till Dawn and Sin City are both better movies and by the end of the year both will be available on UMD Video. However, if you want a great stylized action movie and a $14 price tag is more appealing to you than the $20 tags found on Kill Bill and House of Flying Daggers, you'll get your money's worth with Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
