i choose Xilisoft Video Converter 3 to covert videos for my PSP from such formats like .mpeg .avi to 3gp. This program is easy to use. I havent seen even one bug or non-quality video. There is no sound loose or pixel. I used this software in my site link
This is a handy piece of software which allows you to convert media clips to MPEG 4, the native PSP format. You can also covert the quality, which determines the size, in megabytes. I have used this many times. You must own this!
This is probaly the best converter for the PSP, its easy to do just drag and drop your video, wait for it to convert and then just transfer it to your most precoius posesion and there you have it !!
It converterts your media with perfect quality, the videos fill the screen in full widescreen and brightness just as the games do, plus its fully customisable in which quality and outcome the video has anyway. But, if you dont know, the best is to set the model to MP4, for PSP (direct renamed, then press apply, and set the audio to one of the 29.97 settings. This gives you the best quality.
If you are thinking of putting your media on your PSP then you need this.
Since I first learned how to put movies on my PSP I've been using the 3gp converter. I've tried many other programs including PSP video 9 and this is still my favorite converter. It supports a variety of media types such as wmv, avi, mpg and others. If you want to put your favorite videos on your Godly and Almighty PSP use the 3gp converter.
This program is good at what it does. Converts almost any video codec I throw at it into the MP4 format that is native to the PSP. It does a much better job then some of the others I have seen out there and its completely free.
The improvement that I would like to see is a little bit better UI. Its somewhat cryptic and doesn't need to be. Although one can figure it out it still is something to consider if they plan to release future updates.
This program is a must if you are trying to put videos on your PSP.
I wish the interface on this program was a bit more visual, but I like the fact that you can see the estimated file size as well as completion time if you hover over the status bar. I would have also liked a way to make custom profiles easier. Overall a simple and easy to use program for new users of video encoding.
This is my preferred converter on the PC. simple to setup, simple to use. All i need to do is drag and drop my AVI collection into it before I sleep, and I have a whole new bunch of movies to watch on my PSP the next morning. I love the way it creates thumbnails, very convenient.
This program has recently been adapted to be able to convert video files into the necessary .MP4 files for play on the Sony PSP. The version I got is the english version, and even has a new PSP option built right into the OUTPUT list! This program is extremely easy to use. Just make sure the PSP option for OUTPUT is selected (you can choose the quality you would like too!), then drag the media file you want to convert into the INPUT box and the program works right away. It even names the .MP4 file a PSP friendly filename.
You need another program to convert DVD and other media files into a recognizable format so this program can convert it again! I personally use the program AutoGK (Auto Gordian Knot) to convert DVD files into .AVI files. Here is a link for this program: link I use this program first, followed by 3gp Converter. They make a great team. For initially extracting video and sound files from my DVDs, I use DVD Decrypter.
Although a sometimes lengthy process, I find that converting movies using this method ensures the most customizability. At any conversion point, you can decide on the output quality and size of your file. For example, you must sacrifice more space for better image quality, and vice versa. For the more computer experienced, I highly recommend this program, along with DVD Decrypter and AutoGK. Of course, there are other easier-to-use programs out there that do all these steps with one program.
I have to say, though I love the QUALITY of the PSP9 program, I prefer the 3GP because it has the ability to convert Tivo ToGo shows that I have downloaded to my PC. Sure, you have to install AviSynth and do a VERY small line edit to the the *.ini file, but once you have that setup- it is a breeze!
My only complaint is that lower quality files have the audio/video synch issue, but what do you expect when you are compressing a large video file into a smaller one?!? ;-)
Once you set the language option, this is a terrific program. My only gripe is that it is nigh impossible to reverse some file types, such as MP4 to AVI. But this is easily overlooked when you take the great interface into account.
Tried PSPVideo9, but went back to this one after a week.
3GPP converter is quite foolproof, and the ability to drag-and-drop movie files into it for conversion is very handy.
I have a PC at home with this set up and I have just converted my entire Best Motoring collection by dropping all the AVI files at one go. Each file comes up to a mere 228 MB (approx), so I have enough for 4 episodes of 1 hour each to watch on the go.
