This game is great fun. I downloaded the demo for my PSP and instantly liked it. I then purchased the game to find out that not only have Sony released new online game maps for the game but a whole new chapter of levels for free. The control system is amazingly efficient and the graphics and camera angles are perfect for the PSP. I do however find that my thumb can cramp a little after long sessions from using the analogue stick so much. Multiplayer is good too as you can send a level to your friends PSP if they don't own the game and still play a little with them. I recommend that you download the demo from the Sony store and see for yourself.

Killzone Liberation is and excellent game both as a sequel to the previous Killzone game and a title that could easily be on many people's must have list. However, the game loses points, because of a lack of infrastructure mode and the new camera angle doesn't stand a chance against the old first person camera. The single player campaign is very short, making Killzone and enjoyable game, that comes in a disappointingly small package.

Killzone Liberation follows the previous story line of the first Killzone, and sets you up with what happens next. It is quite an fun experience, but I think SCEA will be better off calling this a side-step or test, as a pose to an all out sequel. This is because they have really experimented a lot with it, the biggest experiment being the camera angle. The graphics are sharp, and detailed, even though you are zoomed far away from the action. The shots from guns end up looking bad because SCEA ended up deciding that shooting a bright line would be good enough. Nevertheless the large nice-looking background, and good animation balance the graphics slightly to the good side.

As the graphics come up short, the gameplay certainly doesn't, atleast not the actual campaign length. You'll be disappointed with your eight hour game, and will soon rely on the Infrastructure mode which it doesn't have, Ad-Hoc may be fun, but come on!!! I hate PSP games with no Infrastructure. However, while the campaign may be short, it is still extremely fun, and might have some replay value. Although there is nothing to collect, you may just go back for the sake of playing the damn game! Another weak point is the messed up control setup, half the buttons don't do anything, and the ones you do use are laid out in such a way that they may take hours to master, also things like strafing and reloading are missing which really screws things up.

Sound is a bit off, but with the things going on, and all the different sound effects its hard to make it better. SCEA have certainly done a good job of capturing the sound of all your surroundings, but weapon shots are abit mediocre.

Killzone Liberation has short loading times, and a very short game, but while it does last it is fun and has good graphics and decent sound, and with no online play, it certainly can't be a serious sequal, but nevertheless it is a good game. An 81 out of 100.

First off , let me say that I have enjoyed this game very much. I can not compare this game to its predecesor on the PS2 or give you any background information on its history but I can tell you about my experience with this game.

The game has a lot of features. The menus in the game are kind of the usual stuff except for the fact that you can download unlockables and visit killzone.com .

On to the game itself.A war is still raging between the ISA and the Helghast and obviously you play a big role in this war.As templar you have to advance along the battlefield with the help of your comrade Rico. They assume in this game that you played the prequel and that you already know the characters and the story a bit.For new players they could at least have made some small introductions for the key characters and the story line.Another fact about the story line is that it doesnt take a lot of time to walk through the campaign mode. The game statistics tell me I have only played for about 3 hours and 32 minutes (although I estimate that this should be between 6 and 12 hours seeing as I have only unlocked 49% of the game at this point. And I have certainly played a minimum of 8 hours). The AI of your enemies is not bad though.I recommend that more experienced gamer play this game on "hard" to get the most out of this game.

The game uses an engine that is quite suited for the PSP though. You experience this game from a semi-top point of view and the engine has almost no trouble running smoothly on the PSP while the graphics are really good. The PSP has alway had a hard time anti-aliasing so I am not going to consider this point. But although the environments you visit are really good , A lot of the scenes feel the same.

You control your character with the analog controller of your PSP wich is somewhat of a small problem. Because of the fact that this controller is not really that sensitive you end up targeting the wrong targets or looking the wrong way at crucial moments. This doesnt mean the controls are bad , not at all. Overall the controls are actually very good and it doesnt take a lot of time to get a good feel over them.

There is also a multiplayer function in this game available. At the moment this is limited to ad-hoc play but they are planning to release an infrastructure multiplayer update in Q1 of 2007.This would be a very welcome adition to this game.I havent had the chance to test the multiplayer function yet but there are two modes.a combat zone mode wich lets you compete against your friends and of course random people you happen to meet and a co-op campaign mode.Especially the co-op mode sounds like fun but again I havent had the chance to test this yet.

All-in all the game is high paced and fun to play and is very well designed ( pretty even ).The story mode may be a bit on the short side but there is a LOT to unlock so if I had to estimate the single player playing time I would say that this is about 16 to 20 hours. The fact that some scenes feel the same , the controls can be a bit inacurate and the fact that the story is a bit unclear to new players , makes this game good instead of great.Although I could not consider the multiplayer in my verdict

verdict : Nice playing feel , Good graphics , relatively short fun campaign mode but worth the money (for everyone owning a PSP)
