I have seen USB-GPS system using less than 20mA so the battery is not a problem anymore, and with the map on a stick. I think battery life span will be about 6 hours, thats actually good for a GPS. But i guess most will use it in a car, mc or boat.
Some have mentioned that the lack of a keyboard will be a problem, i just want to point out that 99,9% off all GPS system dont have a keyboard.

The latest from the PSP-GPS front:

"Well, as it exists at the moment, it will allow you to view data from a GPS Mouse on the screen of your PSP running the GPSP program. This occurs in real time, however there is a delay from when the data is received by the microcontroller circuit, and retransmitted at the slower rate to the PSP. The pic circuit is also filtering information from the NMEA sentences transmitted by the GPS mouse, and discarding any information that GPSP doesn't use so that minimal bytes are retransmitted by the pic circuit to achieve (or try) the fastest transmission that GPSP will interpret."

Don't mean to drag up the topic a bit, but GPS could be great on the PSP. If the attachment could hold a few maps in itself, that would be great, but memory stick storage would be great too. If they could find a way to make it show other PSPs in the area you're in, and possibly what game you're playing (of course there would an option to be invisible), ad-hoc games could greatly benefit.

Or it could show hot spots in the area too...countless possibilities. A PSP GPS system is a great idea, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was going to be a firmware update for something like that (to accompany other things).
