I didn't see anything on this forum about this, so I thought it would be helpful for people to hear about a hard drive you can connect to the PSP. I read about the Apacer Share Steno CD311 on the Playstation forum and now after buying one for myself, I can tell you it's great. I brought about 15 movies and all the Critic episodes with me on a long trip. It was very easy to connect the Steno to the PSP, delete the videos I just watched and then copy new videos to the memory stick on the PSP.

I got mine for $149 at supermediastore.com, which is just a little more than a 1 GB Duo, but it holds almost 40 Duos worth of videos. And you don't have to super-compress your videos to awful quality to get them all to fit on your Duo.

The Steno mounts the PSP memory stick so you can browse the memory stick's files on the Steno. It has a very tiny display and a crude, but useable interface to delete and copy files back and forth between the Steno's hard drive and the PSP.

Enjoy!

Dang, everyone is talkin about dishin out the cash for a Steno... = I just dished out the loot for an iAudio X5 30 GB, Amazon, $332. Well it goes like this: I first heard about it on this site. I was originally interested in it mainly for its USB-OTG capabilities (so for transferring files with the PSP).... Now I'm shivering in anticipation of getting arguably the best mp3 player on the market in many aspects. I've been shopping around for accessories and the like for my X5 and haven't even looked at one piece of extra equipment for my PSP lately! =X

I have the Iriver H340 which has USB OTG so I can connect it to my psp and backup files from my memory stick or send a movie to the memory stick, only thing is it and ALL USB OTG devices are at 1.1 USB speed currently including the Iaudio etc so to transfer say a 600mb file takes ages!
My plan is to sell my H340 for about £200 $350 and buy one of these instead then I can have the advantage of watching movies on a nice size screen with space to store plenty of movies!
There seems to be very little point if you buy one of these of having to buy A a 1gb mem stick or B another device to trtansfer to that mem stick!

Um.. yeah I spent $330 for, what people are calling the "ipod-killer", arguably the greatest MP3 player on the market right now.. so I still don't see what sucks about it =].

I've got a Steno 311, and have been using it with the PSP. I've got a big collection of movies now and transfer them easily to the psp whenever i want. I even made thumbnails for each movie that show up on the psp. It works great. If you've got a PSP, you need a Steno 311. Ebay's got one with PSP movies pre-loaded: link I'd buy it just for the movie collection. These things rock. They're even cooler cuz u can instantly back up any flash media or digital camera with the push of a button. No need to bring a camera around with you anymore. just copy the pics from your friends! cool eh!

It's not a hard drive per se.
It's a CF to MSPD converter with a 4GB CF Microdrive* in it.

*Much like this one:

mikeh said: No, the PSP is a USB Client device, and not a host, it wont work.
