I didn't see anything on this forum about this, so I thought it would be helpful for people to hear about a hard drive you can connect to the PSP. I read about the Apacer Share Steno CD311 on the Playstation forum and now after buying one for myself, I can tell you it's great. I brought about 15 movies and all the Critic episodes with me on a long trip. It was very easy to connect the Steno to the PSP, delete the videos I just watched and then copy new videos to the memory stick on the PSP.
I got mine for $149 at supermediastore.com, which is just a little more than a 1 GB Duo, but it holds almost 40 Duos worth of videos. And you don't have to super-compress your videos to awful quality to get them all to fit on your Duo.
The Steno mounts the PSP memory stick so you can browse the memory stick's files on the Steno. It has a very tiny display and a crude, but useable interface to delete and copy files back and forth between the Steno's hard drive and the PSP.

.. then again i could be wrong..
i dont think i understand what you're saying. are you saying this is potentially a working HD for PSP and ipod? because yes i'm sure it could but then why would you need one for the ipod and then if you can use it for the PSP, unless it streams videos and music from it what would be the difference between this and the steno311? i dont know, maybe i'm misunderstanding your post.
no it is essentialy a stand alone tiny box that is USB OTG enabled. So you plug your IPOD into one end and the PSP into the other and potentially have the ability to transfer files from the IPOD to the PSP Memory Stick. More simply u should be able to use any portable hard disk to store your files. So yes the Steno 311 does the same thing as it includes the hard disk.. but its pretty expensive in the UK and im just trying to find an alternative solution!
This has been a pretty interesting thread here and at pspforums (although I love how people keep asking over and over if you can play content directly from the hard drive...). The Steno is definitely pretty cool, but... here's my $.02 : I think it only makes sense to get it if you've got a big MSDuo PLUS: A) have a bunch of movies encoded that you want to watch and you aren't going to be near your computer for a looooong time (like days or weeks), and/or B) have another USB device like a digital camera that you need to dump files from. In other words, if you're going on a trip and you don't have the cash to just go on and buy a laptop. Someone in another thread thought of the brilliant idea of a hard drive that would attach directly to the top of the PSP, with a firmware update that would let you swap files directly on the PSP -- that would ROCK. Don't know if it's possible, though.

I wish I had the $$ to shell out for a Steno... but I don't ... and I'm pretty sure its worth the $$

in all fairness to sony most people buy SanDisk Duos because they are cheaper. so if sony could make somthing spacific to the psp which was only liscenced to them they could make way more money.
The Steno is GREAT! Works great with the PSP!
I use a 512MB SanDisc Duo with mine. Just flush the old video and load a new video. Since it's USB 2, it's real quick to upload stuff.
