Hi. New here.

Here's my issue:

I got a PSP for Christmas. I just bought a 4GB memory stick for it. It is recognized in the PSP as a 4GB stick. No problems there.

However...I was hoping to have the ability to read/write it from windows xp pro. When I stick the card into the adapter that was included and slap it into my laptop, the card is a) unreadable (giving a "Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted" message)...and b) when go into control panel to look at the card, it isn't showing as a 4GB card, but only a 256MB card.

So...what am I doing wrong (if anything)...what can I do to fix this (again, if anything)...

I took a quick glance through the FAQs and found nothing on this. I've tried searching via google and didn't find much that was helpful, so I'm hoping someone here can be.

TIA!

Have you tried connecting your psp to the pc and uploading to it via usb?? If that shows 4gb then the problem is probably a driver (my best guess). I always use my psp as an external drive on my PC ..and just drag and drop to the correct folders. G'luck!

Those $20 card readers with the USB cables go obsolete pretty quick. They sometimes don't know what to do with a newer card that's bigger than they're designed to accept. I ALWAYS use the PSP and the USB cable to get into the card. Even the PSP needs a firmware update to use an 8GB card. My 4GB card rarely leaves the PSP unless I'm switching it to other gadgets like cameras or other PSPs. I don't see any reason to take the card in and out.
