As a proud owner of all 3 systems, it's a tough call to make. Go with the 360 if you are an avid online gamer (But make sure you drop the $449 for the Elite system... reason being Core system plus 20gb hard drive plus wireless controller = Approx $439 ($300+100+39) if you're hurting so bad for cash that an extra $10 for 6 times more storage and HDMI support seems extraneous, you shouldn't be considering which system to buy, you should be considering whether top ramen is cheaper at Albertson's or WalMart). If you're patient however, the PS3 just may trump Micro$oft's Xbox Live with the upcoming release of their "Home" application. Also if you're a PSP owner the choice is obvious, because the connectivity between the PS3 and PSP is already groundbreaking (Download games playable on both PS3 and PSP systems, stream media (Photos, music and VIDEO!!) from a PC to your PS3 to your PSP ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD that you have WiFi access... yes please!). The PS3 is also nice if you have a 1080p capable TV because as of the latest system update, the PS3 will now upconvert all your old PS2 games and standard-def DVD's to 1080p over HDCP-compliant HDMI. Plus you get that sweet, sweet BluRay goodness (AWESOME if you own a Sony HiDef Camcorder!!). Now personally, I prefer the resolution of HD-DVD over BluRay, but unfortunately, the two biggest names in both the adult and family/mainstream entertainment industry (Vivid Entertainment and Disney) are backing BluRay exclusively, so it looks like the format war may be coming to an end. Plus, Micro$oft has already slated that they will NOT be making games on HD-DVD media, so eventually, the PS3 will far outpace the Xbox360 in terms of capabilities. To summarize, if you're a regular online gamer or an avid Halo fan, go with the Elite 360. If you're a casual to hardcore gamer with a little patience and common sense, go with the PS3 (And a PSP to go with it). If you wanna keep your games AND your girl, get a Wii... Nothing's better than working up a sweat before, well, working up a sweat if you know what I mean. However, if you have the resources, your best bet is to go with all 3 eventually so you don't miss out on any of that gaming goodness! God of War will of course be Sony only... Halo is similarly Microsoft only (via Xbox360 or PC)... And of course the Wii has all the weirdness and fun covered, hands down most fun out of the box with no extra money put out. Once you have all 3, the only thing to consider is which system to buy a certain game for. At that point, i have a little checklist I go by in order of importance: resolution (whoever has it in 1080i or better gets my money!), special features, online play, and finally, all else being equal, I'll get it on 360 (Yes, I'll admit it, I'm an Achievement W#0re haha, half the times I'll buy it on PS3 and rent it on Xbox360 for my sweet, yummy Gamerscore haha). Hope this helps! And whichever y'all decide on, make sure to add me, Quilemaul on Xbox Live and PSN

digi said: "I have an extended warranty through ebgames and now xbox. first one would give me "cannot read disc errors" with GOW, oblivion, graw, call of duty. Second one just froze a bit time to time and still gave cannot read disc errors in the middle of games, and this one does the same thing..

first of all, Gears of war, I have had 2 copies of, both gave the same error out of the box (within the first or second times playing it), now viva pinata has given a few errors. Not only can the xbox not read whether or not Viva is a game or not, half the time it cannot read it... Once the game start I have no errors what so ever. To add to the frustration, every game I have owned has at least barfed more than 2 times in their lives before beating them and trading them for other games. So no, it's not the discs. Pre-latest update I had "less" problems, but problems I still had.

I have a hard time believing you have had not a single problem in a year."

Well, to back up his claim, I also had mine since launch day (11/22/05, 21 hrs n line baby!) and did not have a SINGLE problem with it right up until I traded it in for an Elite, which has given me the same worry free usage since I got it. As far as HD-DVD vs. BluRay... I've seen Happy Feet on HD and BluRay and the rumors are true... HD looks cleaner, less "digital" (It's really noticeable on Happy Feet with all the snow). However, it IS also true that the initial runs (And, yes, even some current ones) of BluRay discs were MPEG-2, once they're fully switched over to MPEG-4, they should be on par with one another. At that point, capacity is going to determine who wins the war, and the capacity Crown goes to BluRay. Think about it logically, both offer up to 7.1 channel uncompressed digital sound, both offer up to 1080p video resolution so really it all boils down to who can store more extras et cetera...
