Went to EB games yesterday for a Nyko THeater Expirence, and was talking with the salesman and he said that the psp sales were in the dumper. Game production slowdown, UMD movies no longer being produced by any production company, lack of new accessories/add ons save for the GPS system. so do you think he's right? He said that the DS was totally out selling the PSP even with the price drop. is the psp doomed? or will it be a phoenix?

I was told the same thing by a buddy of my who works in Gamestop. DS is the way to go for gaming. I have both the PSP and DS, and imo the PSP is more my portable multimedia device than my gaming device. Games are a big let down. I have to agree with the sales reps.

I think BanzaiBek has hit the nail on the head - despite how Sony want us to use the PSP, most people [myself included] are using their PSP as PMP! The screen kicks ass! If Sony really want to get ahead of the DS though, they need to stop churning out PS2 ports [which incidently cost more on the PSP than on the PS2 - go figure] and start thinking creatively! I mean LocoRoco was a step in the right direction. They need more pick up and play titles! No one really has the time to play an epic on their way to work, or do they? Oh, and they definitely need to open the system up to all the bedroom coders since that's where the war will truly be won! That said, I'm very interested to see what TestDrive [I know, I know... another driving game] is going to look like. Anyone heard or seen anything?

For every owner of a PsP out there, there are 6 people that want one. <IMO>. The psp has a market, and will for a long long time. The market will change, 3rd party company's have to adjust to a new system with new accessories and that creates problems with understanding the demand for products and pricing. It takes time for game developers to get to know the system and it's abilities. GTA was great and the next version will be better, all due to the learning curve of a new system. The PsP isn't going ANYWHERE.

Some of the games are really fun, Socom, Burnout, Lego, But the creativity and pick up and play is lacking on the psp. I mean, games like Monster hunter are cool, but the majority of PORTABLE gamers want a game that you can pick up and play for 7 minutes on the car ride to school or for 21 minutes at there break at work, they dont want a PS2 game. Loco Roco was fun, just fun. I dont know why, and it is kind of a stupid game, but I found myself playing it and having fun. Also, I use my psp as a MP3 and Movie player. Also, if the UMD distributers would get the butts in gear and give us content for our money, I would buy tons of umd's. It isnt just sony, its the game makers and umd makers that are screwing up the system in my oppinion.
On the second note, my friend has a ds light and it IS really fun, yet the games all seem too childish and easy. If the psp could figure out some games that were innovative, they would beat the DS. And the PSPs screen is amazing for watching movies.

Alright, my rant is done

yeha the ds lite does have some childesh games but it has many inovative games.

i think brain age is a innovative game for the ds. but for the umds they just need to drop the price to about 7-10 bucks and also make more tv shows.

well my ipod broke and i was a bit bored just listening to music so the idea of a psp to me is really good being able to play games(ok some mite not be that good but each to their own one mans trash is another mans treasure!) listen to mp3's and watch movies!! in the uk its stil £149.99 and then you got to buy at least a 1gb memory stick so compared to the ds at £99 its alot more xpensive and with the ds i dont think the games are that in-depth like the psps and we have to remember that until 2yrs ago the best handheld was a gameboy advance!! psp is the way forward and theirs alot more fun to be had with it!
