Went to EB games yesterday for a Nyko THeater Expirence, and was talking with the salesman and he said that the psp sales were in the dumper. Game production slowdown, UMD movies no longer being produced by any production company, lack of new accessories/add ons save for the GPS system. so do you think he's right? He said that the DS was totally out selling the PSP even with the price drop. is the psp doomed? or will it be a phoenix? +

i hope hes not, but then everything im reading on this forum lately is going that way, hopefully hes just trying to pump up the ds sales

I hope our beloved hand held friend isn't gonna die a premature death but it certain seems that it might. All you really have to look at is the scary P!NK PSP they've released over here in the EU to try get sales and the game production slowdown. In reality the last good game we had was Dark Mirror and before that the ground was pretty thin games wise. Lets hope that the EVENTUAL release of GT4 Mobile, the upcoming Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion & Medal of Honour boost sales (which they should) and it gets better from then! I also think the PS1 download service will help sales etc.

hopefully Sony will come out with a solution...I would suggest, in the next FW update, to grant access to Kernel Mode (if you know what I mean). Then tell the public, and the PSP sell count will or at least should increase dramatically!

I Agree Divine...if Sony's really in the pooper with the PSP and naysayers ranting about the PS3, Sony should release access to Kernel Mode and watch their device FLY off the shelves...I mean , if sales are plummeting then why not open it up to H0m3br3w coders....it might boost sales....a haxxd PSP is a very nice device to have around...adding that the ability to run unsigned code WITH the current FW enhancements would make the PSP a POWERHOUSE!

yeah but for that they would be allowing copyright infringement...not something they would allow.....or would they?

Not dying, just being outsold by DS

the psp has 110 games coming out and the sells are not bad at all. and the ds is only out selling it in japan. in the states the sell # for both systems are neck and neck. but the systems are marketed in different ways. and the ds got more sells because of the new version ds, the ds lite. the psp does not have a new version yet, so wait for that and a price drop. there are 100 million gba's out there so people are uses to the gameplay of the gba and the ds is marketed to kids. they have more time to play handhelds, they are about 80% of the market so the ds was going to be in the lead anyway. the psp sold enough that it is not going to die.edited: Oct 12 2006
