thread starter
Well I got the 2.7 update and immediately started writing flash tools to figure out what flash sees
well for any flash programmers out there I made a quick flash test program and the only keys flash sees are the arrow keys.
their key.getCodes are 38 for up
37 and 39 for left and right
40 for down
The really odd thing is that getAscii returns nothing. So far I have not got a game to read the buttons which may be because of a lack of ascii codes. I'll experiment more today and start posting my flash testing files
The X is tracked as a mouse button.down but it ignores the rest of the buttons, which is to be expected.
With this info in hand if I can modify any games to reconize these keys they will work on the PSP although the codes don't map to keyboard keys so it won't work on a computer. +

Here is the a maze from the flash tile site I modified to work with the psp. The arrow keys move the block around. No your not missing anything else. It was purely to test capturing the arrows.

I want to be able to try and figure out this problem with the buttons, as well. And besides, I wanna get good at making flash stuff.....Anyway, can you help me out, just a bit?"
I am a flash developer I wrote my own tools last nite after downloading the update and once I knew what was what I put the code into a maze segment I had downloaded to see if it would work

I forgot that you can't use uppercase while typing in urls.... I saved versions of my links as all lowercase too so you can still type in the address on the PSP.

my psp rss is allready running great with with controls and dynamic php..! anyone needs help on their files just pm me...
It has all functions I need so I can finish it, also taking out all my shadows since it won't get any better, the psp won't run higher then 222mhz which is way too slow for vector animation.., did not think of that earlier, it was a long time ago I had a 333mhz pc and made flash..edited: Apr 25 2006

BigJay & DCLXVI, thanks for the help! I'm only just starting to learn Flash (though I can learn fast), and I needed to know that stuff...especially since it'd be REALLY cool if I could make flash applications for the PSP.....edited: Apr 26 2006

no problem.
Oh that maze level i used comes from this site. if you want to do tile based games this is the best resource for it. also good for some side scroller based games.

I hope in future versions they let you use the memory stick for cache in the browser...
also tried streaming mp3 several ways, but no go.. as expected, don't think sony let us make the RSS feeds (and more to come) useless with us making a dynamic steaming mp3 player...
like I did on this site link I wanted to combine this code with psp_rss...
too bad...edited: Apr 26 2006

If you want to know how to create flash based sites then PURCHASE a program called Macromedia Flash MX. You can get it by going to: link

I went was digging through some really old tutorials and found that the codes the PSP uses for it's arrow keys are the same as those on the PC/Mac. now they just use UP, Down, LEFT, RIGHT but in older tuts they used the 38~40 codes. So long as a game uses arrow keys and the mouse to do things/shoot it will work

psp..its really..really crazy.
